Hi, September filers!

My wife was among those interviewed today. She passed! She was extremely nervous, but it was an overall good experience. Our only major complaint was that, in Chicago, there are two doors out of which the IO's come out and call interviewees numbers. We weren't told whether to sit by Door 1 or Door 2 when my wife checked in, so I sat by Door 2, and she sat by Door 1. Also, the numbers seemed to be called pretty randomly, and there was no screen saying what number was next (like at the DMV).

My wife was told that the oath ceremony would be within the next 60 days.

He said he will send the file directly to the office downstairs and hopes that will speed it up a little. The officer was very nice.

Same experience as @Kate_H today at Chicago, the officer was very nice but said he would be unable to do the N-400 interview as my ROC/I-751 was still pending. He said on the small bright side, my file was now here in Chicago so he would send it downstairs for an ROC interview. I believe @AK_2014 ran into the same problem last month, but the ROC interview was scheduled for about a month after the initial N-400 interview date, so fingers crossed!

Chicago interview yesterday was easy. Door number written on our receipt and receptionist told us where to sit to hear our number called. My husband got called at exactly our appointed time. 30 minutes later was done and passed. 30-60 days to return for oath ceremony. Six questions, a couple of sentences to read/write. IO struggled with English. My husband had a hard time understanding his thick foreign accent but they got along well. Glad we went the online filing route. Congrats to all others who passed yesterday and good luck to all who are still waiting.

Hey Folks!!

It's been a while since I posted on this thread. Something came up unprecedented.

Anyhow, I had my interview today, 12/20/2017. The interview lasted in less than 15 minutes. I passed and did my oath all at the same day..

I received my naturalization certificate.

I am officially a US citizen!!!!!

That's what my wife's said, too. Now it reads:

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number IOEXXXXXXXXXX, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Yep, I received my interview letter while I was in the Philippines. I came back in the United States a few days prior to the scheduled date.

Min the office, it all seemed normal, they took a picture and fingerprints for identification and then he said, Kate I am really sorry but we receive cases just moments before we call you to the room. I looked at your case and noticed that your green card case is still pending. Based on that we could not proceed with citizenship Interview. He advised that he will process my case to local office (downtarirs) instead of returning to ASC and he hopes it will help. But yes, I now have to wait for green card interview and then be in line again!

side note, he also advised that due to change in power no more interview waivers are given to GC Holders applying for a 10 year gc based on marriage. Previously unless they actually had questions to ask, they would simply mail your green card, no more. So more to come on that.

My online system is still showing estimated completion date - September 2018, now this time frame seems pretty realistic!

P.S. I am great at hiding my feelings😭😭😭😭😭😭😭Devastated!

hello there Kate. I'm very sorry to here this. and i do remember you asking about others having the I-175 on pending while they go through their N-400. Most of the answers that came from this guys wasn't what happened to you. Well generally the officer was supposed to interview you on both. first interview you on the green card, approve you the proceed to the N400. Looks like that didn't happen and I'm sorry you have to wait a couple of months to get it all started.

Question 1. Were you eligible to apply for the N400 ? Most often if you are , you won't get any sort of problem with them not proceeding with the interview. My I -175 is still pending and that gives me a heads up and little nervous about your case. Knowing each case varies and sometimes it depends on the place i still think they changing a lot now. You are the third person that i have came across on the website who wasn't interviewed due to come little green card issue. Hope they get it all sorted out.

Secondly what do you mean by no more interview waivers for GC holders apply for their 10 years green card ? Thats that mean after your two years stay with your married partner you automatically get your 10 year green card ? find time to elaborate on it for me please.

Lastly its ok to be devastated. We all know the stress that goes into this journey , the time , money and how emotional it can get seeing others in the same situation as yours gets through the system successfully. Always remember you have come along way. i know people who have been inline for an interview for a year now and still waiting. How ever i would advice you call to make sure the Officer actually sends your case to the local ASC for processing. Good Luck in your journey .God bless
