by those who send only their children (though most bring them along) but it is all of a sudden ok on the flip side when you want them to leave.
What is it? Keep families together or apart ? Have the state take care of the kids while the parents get send back ?
So much for family values. Have a 14 year old kid to get covered only if he rats out his parents ......you going to take care of him ?
The parents aren't criminals by overstaying for example. If the person commits a crime on top of overstaying then of course they are a criminal.
The immigration law is civil in nature so you can't call them all criminals.

 

Are all DACA cases the results of an overstay from a valid visa?  I imagine a great many of them were never brought here on a valid visa in the first place (I.e. They entered the US illegally).  By adding the requirement to inform on the parents who many have been saying in this thread are the real criminals, then it puts the decision on them to keep the family together or tear it apart.  This is a decision immigrants make all the time.  By the way, with your proposal, what happens to the parents if they cannot pay the penalty every six months?

Instead of entering illegally or overstaying, they can stay home and work to develop and improve their own country.  If they can't do that in their own country, what are they going to do here?

Be able to get a job, go to school, improve their life, contribute to society.

My comment was in reference to what you said. According to your post you said they need to stand in line for a visa. My reply was many aren't eligible, nothing

No, of course not but there are way too many overstays and I simply pointed out that is not a crime according to the law but falls under civil law.
We are not the Stasi here in the States . We don't encourage children to "rat out " their parents, then let them stay and then have the state care for them.
That is just crazy. Maybe you get some satisfaction out of "ratting out a parent" for bringing them here for a better life, to protect them from violence,
to be able to feed them, but I do not share that view. Ever.

So asking someone to turn in a criminal is Stasi tactics now?  Many many of the replies in this thread talk about the crimes of the parents or adults that brought these individuals here.  Shouldn't they have to pay for that crime?  The alternative is that the whole family returns intact to their country of origin, it becomes the family's choice which I believe is opposite how the Stasi operated as I don't remember them giving anyone much of a choice.

'Someone' turning in a 'criminal' and demanding a child 'turn in' their parents are two entirely different things.
Who will care for those children left behind in your plan ? You ?

 

If the parents can't pay the penalty and repeated application fees to remain here, then adult children old enough to work pay.
If the adult children can't or won't they would have to find someone else willing to pay the fees, like a sponsor or go home.
It would be a more humane option plan rather than
having kids 'rat out their parents' in order to stay and our tax dollars don't need to be spend to raise kids without parents and traumatize these kids with demands
to rat them out in the first place. I am not claiming to have all intrinsic answers to this issue but it is not as hard as some make it out to be.
It is also an attitude problem with many who have squeezed as immigrants themselves into this country having a desire to slam the door in the face of those

who just can't cope with life and death situations in their countries and want to take them by the scruff of the neck and throw them out the door like a dirty cat.
I have faith in the majority of Americans and their congressmen to come up with a humane plan that will work.
But we must increase border security and take incentives away and heavily fine businesses who seek out the undocumented, the fraudulent application
process for cheap labor. That is a must. I believe once this is done the undocumented problem will fizzle out.
We also must find a better way to monitor overstays and get to that early on not years after the fact.
If legal immigrants who come by doing everything legal and are in total compliance with all requirements can have a home visit why can't overstays be
monitored better ?!
