Oh good, I found the right forum / topic to jump in.

I started the process to bring my lovely Angel to the US, mailing my I-194F on 9/11 to the USCIS lockbox and also sending a copy  to my fiancée in Manila.

I got my USCIS text message on 9/18 that it had been received and taken in for processing on 9/14.  My actual NOA1 letter arrived on 9/22.

Angel got her duplicate packet in Manila on 9/18 also.  $60+ to send the packet to her, then a PH postal fee of 112php on her end to retrieve it (fee of 100, VAT of 12).  That was the cheapest tracked courier rate I could find (thru USPS, partnering with FedEx).  Would enjoy hearing if others have found a better rate to send a document envelope to the Philippines.

We're prepared for a wait of course, eyes opened and benefiting from reading so much advice here :-)

A long journey begins with the first step, right?

Hello there,

we are september filers also. I am swiss and mu fiance is from georgia.

we got our noa1 about 2 weeks ago and hope now for the best.

We both dream of spending Xmas together in our home, but seems very unrealistic.

but let’s still dream and see how long it will take.

did anyone get an update on the case status that does say something new/updated?

N-400: 12/05/2023 (confirmed fingerprints are re-used)

I am not well versed when it comes to naming nomenclatures so I will reserve comment. But what I can tell you is that getting the NOA1 only states that USCIS has received your file. That's all it is. It doesn't mean your submission is error free or that FNU is in the wrong spot on your application.  At this point, I recommend that you sit back and wait till either a 221g arrives or you get a notification that you been given an approval a the NOA2 is on its way.

Read up on what happens when your file arrives at the TX lockbox. https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/directorates-and-program-offices/lockbox-intake/lockbox-intake-processing-tip-sheet  Scroll half way down the page for the intake procedures.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I'd seen that page. There is some processing that happens at intake because the file can be rejected if it's not filled out completely or fails to meet some other unspecified "business rules".

Ultimately, I was hoping someone could either chime in "we did it that way and were rejected" or "we were fine". But barring that, you're right, nothing to do but wait and see.

My fiancé and I are trying to be very optimistic and hoping for December but that doesn’t seem very likely ! Doesn’t hurt to hope though :)

Yeah I know... but we can still hope :)

How do you guys plan on all the tasks on our to-do list? Such as quitting job (I have 1 month notification), apartment (3 months), etc? Doing it ahead so you can leave as soon as you get the visa, or...?

Definitely can!

Hes lucky enough to be staying with family until we receive the visa so the apartment isn’t an issue, in terms of the job once we have the medical and interview appointment scheduled he’s going to be giving his notice.

Sep 7 NOA 1 here.  Grace is in the Philippines.  Hoping to connect with others in the Philippines on roughly the same schedule.  My fiancee is nervous to go to Manila alone for the medical and interview later so connecting with someone else going through at the same time would be great.

Good luck to everyone in your journeys!

What part of Philippines?   My fiancé is in Balamban and our NOA 1 was Sep 15.
