Receiving AOS would mean green card. So yes you can travel with green card but be careful about staying too long.

aos btw takes long right now. So if you plan to travel while waiting you need to get advance parole.

Btw, so you know how long is taking to get the AOS nowadays?

Not really because it is changing all the time and it depends on where it goes.

However Ead-AP takes about 3-4 months.

Normally AOS takes less than 6 months but as there was backlog here, that also means these people will flow there and it is possible to have a backlog there.

Most likely that's enough 😊 I'd like to supervise (and be bossy a bit, just a bit😂😂) don't forget to count your kids as dependents though when calculating.

(If I remember correctly you had kids if not sorry!)

Your good 😁 i have two kids. Im also getting my mom to sponsor him because i get death benefits from social security for my children's father passing. If they accept it i have more than enough for all four of us if not i only cover us for  100% I- 134  but AOS is 125% which i won't cover if they don't accept that additional income ive tried to do research if its accepted or not some says it is and some says its not so just incase my mom is willing to help

My idea is it is; because it is your income and at least it counts toward your children.

but it is always nice to have a co-sponsor (we are doing the same) I wouldn't want to hear a no just because we weren't ready to show we have additional support just in case.

Exactly and i was hoping whomever handles his interview will see my mother is willing to sponsor him and see that we have the support of family  (which we do) my mommies buying my wedding gown  i keep asking her my budget and she's  not answering me which in my mind means try something  on and whatever you pick we get lol crossing my fingers lol my mom doesn't like to tell me No and im 32:lol: a spoiled brat.

Hello everybody!

So I'm sure there is a separate threat to my question (feel free to direct me to it if you know), but do any of know or already have a plan for health insurance for when your second half arrives here? I'm covered by my parents as of right now, but I need to have a plan for my other when she arrives and don't really know where to even start with this.

You need to have your insurance to have your spouse covered.

your fiancé cannot get any coverage till finding a job (not even travel insurance as this is not travel- and can't be a public charge either)

So as far as I know you will need to get coverage yourself.

this is a question everyone comes up with, yet unfortunately there isn't a good solution for that period till they get a job.

If you mean coverage from entry until AOS application, then I believe @Naes is correct. If you mean after applying for AOS, then she will qualify as far as I understand. She doesn't need a green card but just be in the process of applying for it. (See "Applicants for any of these statuses qualify to use the Marketplace" in the link below)

https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/immigration-status/

So that's immigrant applying for own coverage?

Hm not sure what you mean? I think you can apply for this on your own or with spouse. I have to do more research, I've been telling my fiancé to sign up for this and search for enrollment options (I couldn't do it without an account). I'm not sure if this is one of these things you don't qualify for if you have a certain income and is already covered/have the option to be covered elsewhere. I will get back to you when I know more :)

Ah ok your fiancé will sign up first right? That's what I mean, I mean the need to get covered as a couple or by person.

I didnt know the immigrant can get coverage by themselves before green card etc. but can get coverage under their then husbands insurance.

Because the other post post said he was under his parents coverage, hence doesn't have his own to add her.

But to tell the truth American system is toooooo complicated for me 😂😂😂

Yes exactly, the idea is he signs up first, but mostly to check when the enrollment period is - I think it’s only a few times a year. My fiancé is covered his parents’ insurance as well and can’t add me to it when married. So we thought we’ll weigh the costs of him staying on his coverage and me getting this marketplace thing by myself (if possible), or us both getting new coverage via his employer. We haven’t figured out the most financially benefical option yet.

Because yes, American health insurance is such a jungle! I’m still trying to figure out how to be covered before marriage. I feel like I’ve got this K-1 thing under control, but when it comes to insurance and taxes.. Don’t even know where to begin. 😳

Yep America is definitely  a jungle in this area....aaaaaaa the scariest part of this is not knowing the system😭

I only get transcripts in japan... Japanese companies does everything themselves... all type of taxes, insurance even private ones... everything...

and my fiance doesnt know much either cause cause he was in the navy and it was also taken care of rather easily....

Yes it waives.

you only pay for AOS (and if you file together ead or AP you don't pay for those.)

That's great news, thank you. So each of those forms along with removal of conditions requires the $85 biometrics fee. I presume if you file them all together then the biometrics is done once to cover for AOS, EAD and AP and then once more when removing conditions?
