Right? My fiance is getting disappointed by finding nothing in his mailbox. So he just told me he won't be going to the post office anymore til Thursday

Tell him not to worry, I am extremely frustrated but I still look forward to my 7-7:30 informed delivery email every morning. He should certainly do that btw, email is much better than having to physically go to post office. Link is in the always-awesome Naes signature. :)

ahh.. ok. I was wondering if one of these mythical tier 2 people that take 3 hours waiting could tell me why people a week after me are getting notifications but I am still in the black hole of worried waiting.

They may, or may not. You can learn if you're still pending security checks or such.

because every case is different...

people from well before you is still waiting so you're not a unique case.

By the way we did call today for the second time through the process.

First time there was nothing.

this time they said our case was assigned to an officer.

so you may actually learn something from calling them, however believing in it is a whole different subject :)

In my case it might be worth it. I had a crazy epic adventure over Christmas visiting my fiance and lost my passport with 3 year visa. (I know.. I know.. I am incredibly careful but it happened anyway.) I wonder if that hijinx caused a red flag in the great big machine that can be cleared up.

Usually lost passports are a red flag even for tourist visas....but it will get cleared in the end one way or another.

HAHA! My bureaucratic BS detector is a finely honed instrument. I think (hope) I will be able to tell if I am getting a canned line to delay/get rid of me or straight talk from someone who knows what they are talking about.

Even as the petitioner? I had to get an emergency passport to return home and have since received my new 10 year passport replacement from the state department. I had/have police reports, letters from Russian immigration services etc that allowed me to go to the US embassy in Moscow and then home.

That I wouldn't know. It is not about being allowed or anything it is about someone else using your passport in the future, so the petitioner losing it as the us citizen may not cause problem, but would it add to the security check? Who knows.. security checks are basically name checks at this stage, so common names are a bit of a hiccup that I know.

Well the person my fiancé talked didn't start saying we are doing august 1 cases bs, so it was an honest start.

and tier2 actually said this when he didn't even push but just asked where in the process we are.. so we will see in the next few weeks if I'm in the first bulks or I'll be settling down on vj for longer...

As always, thank you for the info. You are a fountain of helpfulness. :) I will call tomorrow (unless informed delivery gives me some good news in the AM) just to assuage my concerns and report back.

I assume they always fluff their numbers as a standard practice. Unfortunately for them, there are both Russian language and English language sites(VJ) that show that we are past due unless there is a snag which merits a call I think at this point. I am less than an hour from the CSC. I should just show up with a big box of chocolates (full of cash) or something. :jest:

Assigned to an officer? No wonder why the numbers are off and way out of order. This is what I'm afraid about. I'm just having a hard time with this because some officers work faster and some maybe slower, and others are trainees. It could even slow the process if that assigned officer is on leave, sick call, vacation, etc.

There should be a program that allows the system to automatically assign one case at a time  from the queue only after you have adjudicated the case, they won't even know what's thrown to them after they have adjudicated that one case... at least that officer has to work on that case first before can get be assigned a new one from the queue. So the more they clear, the more they meet their quotas. That way cases are in order, no one is being left out hanging, officers won't be able to nitpicking the cases, etc. Simple that is....

Most of the delays are because of security checks. Assignment can only happen after that.

If cases were going in an order like that we would be waiting for January filers to finish. A january filer for example just got security checks done by December and then got an rfe. I'm sorry but I don't want to wait for every single case to get resolved. So if an adjudicator got stuck with one case all rfes also should be put back on the pile, because I can also easily say, one give it fully completed why would I wait?

Every case is different, every case will take a different amount of time.

But in addition they probably do need a better system, which they were actually trying last year...

then it accidentally sent out hundreds of green cards without proper checks finished. So we're back to this manual system.

I meant to say they just need to touch it and see what's needed, run the security checks, tickle it, RFE, etc and then click, then move on and then accept new case.  If it can be adjudicated, brownie points for them. Just like Uber... 😂
