But if a person is DENiED for not having it that would be illegal because every American citizen has up to 4/15 and some longer if they filed for an  ext. people don't purposely put it off but in my case it's being amended so either way, I'd provide it if necessary (but not right now as it's not available!)  (with my mother as a co sponsor) but I am banking on not needing to use it at all. Hence why I'm asking

I think she already answered your question. Someone was put on administrative processing after interview in February for not having 2017 tax return. Better safe than sorry get your 2017 tax return before your interview.

I think that's a good discussion if it comes up at the interview. There may always be more reasons to why they asked it. You can never know what CO thinks. But yes it happened and they are sending it.

however as it can be done, I asked all my sponsors taxes to be done, and have them. Don't worry at this rate the interview will most likely be after April 15 so plenty of time to get them ready.

My mother is sending me her 2017 taxes tomorrow. I just didn't want to ask her because her job gives her homeland security clearance and it's a big deal for her to do this. I didn't originally send in the K1 with a sponsor , so what do I need now that I'll be using one ? Who knows when the taxes will be ready... my concern was they won't be if approved within the next two weeks because it could take up to 4 weeks when filing via paper mail. (They only accept amended returns via snail mail which sucks.) also, if unemployment is on the tax return I'm assuming they don't even consider that as part of your total yearly income?

It's ok they don't ask about sponsors at the petition stage. You don't send the I-134 with the petition anyway.

You are just going to have 2 I-134 forms and have her financial evidence, taxes etc. even if you get approved tomorrow, you'll have a good 2 weeks at least for NVC and at least another 2 weeks for interview. It will be on time.

yes, unemployment wouldn't help with the sponsorship.

Is her 2017 return enough evidence or does she as well need the pay stubs plus letter from employer?

Definitely need more evidence.

I'm using 3 years tax returns, pay stubs and w2s. Because the employer doesn't provide a employment letter. But getting that is good too.

I'm guessing you're not as your country says Philippines. If you're not applying in japan, and you didn't return to japan after getting the certificate you most likely don't need one.

in japan I believe it says it supposed to be within 1 year.

check the information given on Philippines USEM website if it says differently.

It would only be illegal if it was too early for the petitioner to file. Having until April 15th doesn’t mean you need use all that time. Since the petitioner is able to go and file in time for the interview it is actually reasonable for the embassy to expect it. It’s only illegal for the IRS to come after you or penalize you before the 15th of April I think that’s maybe what you’re thinking of?

Helloooo Berries!

I know it looks like we started a slow start at the moment, but I think behind the scenes are going strong!

We are having lovely news of silent noa2s!

Now let's hope they will move through that mountain called September 5 soon and give us a similar strong 200s in number just like August!

My personal berry himself is coming next week!

I sooooooo wish we could see our noa2 when he is here! What a lovely surprise it would be...

Anywayyyyyy,

is everyone slowly getting the police certificates ready?

If you lived in a country apart from where you are resident of right now, it may take a while!

So don't forget to check it ;)

I just gave my finger prints last week! (I thought the guy was trying to break my fingers.....)

The funny part is, I live in Japan and getting the one from Japan takes 1 to 2 weeks..... The Turkish certificate....takes a few hours.......

Hi, I don't know how to cut the message so it's not a huge quote, but here we go: it's right what I read that you only need a police certificate when you lived up to 12 months in a different country, right?

I got 2 from brazil, one for federal police and other from state police, but both were on the internet, quite simple, it only took 2 seconds. So I wonder if is that right, can be this easy? 😂

I think exactly the same.

cause it's not a common think to go to AP in japan and they specifically asked for taxes. However, they also may need a co-sponsor told by CO so that may be another reason they wanted more detail.

also japan asks secifically for the most recent tax returns

Actually that 12 months rule depends on the embassy, because most embassies want 6 months or longer.

my Japanese one takes 2 weeks but Turkish one which I'm applying through an embassy takes less than a day... so yep it can be easy...

I got on the internet, it seems too good to be true.

Well, it says 12 months or longer, and I lived in Italy for 10, so we are fine! Thanks!

Ours is quite easy too like 15 min online. But only for local employers or authorities. And for US Embassy here police certificate is required to be sealed by Statistic and Crime Agency and apostilled and ink wet. Not sure about yours though.
