We were approved for our K3 and the I-130 April 5th  . It's now the 19th and NVC doesn't have our file. That's 2 wks! Should it not have been received by now???

Don't get to frustrated. It is somewhat typical. NVC only updates their records on a weekly basis (every Tuesday I believe)

so wait till next tueday, before calling and speaking to an agent at the NVC

Good luck

I got my approval notice for my K-1 on March 27th. NVC still hasn't received it yet, and it's been even longer than yours (3.5 wks). I think California is taking their sweet time in sending the files out to them... grrr....

O yeah and the guy that I talked to today at the NVC says its typical for them to not even receive it by 4 weeks.

I can take between 4 and 6 weeks for CSC to send the files. Try emailing NVC with your case number and by the time they reply, they probably will have forwarded the case to your consulate.

It can take upto 3 weeks. Keep calling NVC and talk with an operator live. I am sure, they will have your file anyday. Sometimes, they have the file, but it is not on its system, as they are entering all info into their computer system.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I called 3 times a day and finally got the answer I wanted after 20 days (Mar 29 to April 18) it was sent out the embassy 2 days later .. tracking it by DHL now ..

If it takes the same number of days for yours to arrive, you should hear something around the 25th

 Good Luck

You'll love this! We called the USCIS "mis"information line to find out where our file was and the person we spoke to said, " You have received your approval, your wife can come to the U.S. now". So we said, "Are you sure about that? We still have to have the case forwarded to the NVC." She said, yes, you're approved.

Can you imagine? How can a representative be so misinformed? Good thing we know better. Otherwise, we'd be making plans and setting ourselves up for quite the disappointment. Lesson learned...double check the information you receive from USCIS help line.

 Oh well. I'm sure they are trying their best.

When I was first denied entry to the US, one US Customs guy told me that once I get the I 130 approved, I take it to Calgary, they stamp it and I can go!

I believed him!

Hi All

I called and talked to USCIS rep who also got a supervisor involved on mine. They have no idea why NVC is bottleneking everything. According to them they send out the packet to NVC the same time they send you your mail I-797 NOA2 approval. They do not batch send as some are saying. I also have followed the timelines a little and noticed surges in dates, some people are showing in at NVC within 4 - 8 days, than there seems to be a lull before another group which then takes 3 weeks. Don't understand this, I'm not sure whats going on at NVC. USCIS says that your case should show up in NVC withing two weeks from date you recieved I-797 form (not date of approval) (basically around three weeks from approval). If you are after that either keep bugging them or as they suggested contact local immigration throught there infopass (appointment), to help track where its gathering dust. USCIS phone reps cant do anything like that. Oh yes, you need to tell them exactly what type of visa and circumstances because they are dealing with all types and can easily misunderstand you particular circumstance. They should require receipt number so they pull it up on screen to assist.

Good Luck, I'm in the same boat 19 days here..frustrating...

I second this! We had an infopass appointment. Our agent was both professional and informative. We had a written list of questions. The agent answered every question and advised us of where to find the answers to the questions she wasn't completely sure of. No grey area at all. Indeed, infopass was a worthwhile experience.

Sometimes, (unintentionally I'm sure) we get information on these forums and from other sources that isn't always 100%accurate. It is a reassuring comfort to get the well advised information from the infopass personel.

It's pretty unlikely that the USCIS call center reps know the process at each service or the NVC. I would take their information with a grain of salt since it's obvious that the service centers don't forward to the NVC at the same time they mail the NOA2!
