Hi there for the Application for Travel document, what do we put in for a travel date if we don't have one yet?

You can write in 'unknown'. K1 visa holders are not required to have a specific travel date in order to be approved for AP.

If you are going through the visa process and will be interviewing in Casablanca, Morocco, join us over at the

Hi all,

I'm just in the process of filing AOS with my partner from Australia.

Has anyone had trouble opening a bank account? I have a bank account through a local credit union, but they said I couldn't put my Aussie partner on it with out a SSN. I was under the assumption he couldn't file for an SSN until he gets his green card. Can someone clarify for me? :)

It all depends, here my ssn won't even be good enough ...I have one from when I was on a j1 work visa, but they need proof of address, so he had to put me on a bill... still waiting for the bill to be generated to go to the bank.

As the others said you can actually get a ssn card already.

First of all. Relax. You have your all your numbers already since they already came via text and email. Your biometrics appointment will be just fine once you receive the letter, you wont need any of the NOAs paper, the only thing you will need is the BIO Letter with your appointment, Passport as your identification. Thats all. :)

I completely understand and believe me, pretty much everyone on this forum knows what you are going through, we are all in same boat :) ... I applied in August and still cant work, and to be honest if you read some of the old posts and even look at some timelines, you will see that timelines from USCSI are somewhat extended right now, in other words, Work Permits and Green Cards are taking really long. Obviously some offices (rare) are way faster but in general majority of us will wait 3 to 5 months for EAD.

If you want to have a better idea of how long AOS would take for your office you can use this timeline as a base : http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php this is not 100% accurate since its based on users review and what not, but its always good to have something to look forward.

Now my recommendation is, relax a bit, sit tight, mow some lawn :) go to the park, have some ice cream ....because this can take awhile. One thing though I do want to mention, if you get a job offer, you can request USCIS to expedite your case and from what I have being reading it minimize significantly the amount of time for your EAD. Just a option out there in case you get a job offer. (You cant work until you get your EAD but you can apply for jobs, explain your situation and if the company is ok with it, you can use the job offer for expedite your EAD.) Enjoy sunday.

I totally understand the process, just not used to not working.

- I agree, although it's not 100% accurate and I rather not look at it haha cos its like 8 months waiting for Philadelphia office and its currently just 5 records. The important part for me is the EAD.  Trying so hard to be positive but its tough.

"mow some lawn :) go to the park, have some ice cream" -  been doing that too! hahaha.

I'm actually thinking to do some volunteer work while I wait. To make me feel I contribute something in this planet and not just sitting here haha.

Appreciate your advise though, we'll all be here for the next coming months mates!

Just got home from the biometrics appointment. His scheduled time was at 11:00am, but we got there at 10:35am because I'm obsessively early. :P

We were back in the car and on our way home by 10:55am. Overall it was about 5 minutes of filling out some forms, 5 minutes waiting for his name/number to be called up, 10 minutes doing the fingerprinting, photos and filling out a customer service survey. Happy to report a pleasant experience. :)

Sent in my Aos today! Hoping it goes smoothly and quickly! Luckily, I'm in Montana, not as many applicants, so I'm hoping it goes faster.

Hello, when did they receive your package?

They received mine on the 22nd of September and I still have not got my Noa yet.
