My EAD AP combo card is on its way and today I saw another notice was on its way and my interview has been scheduled for the last week of January 2018 in Buffalo!

Feeling nervous and excited at the same time : )

My timeline:

Forms received by USCIS on September 19th

Checks cashed and biometric appointment set for October 18th

Got an RFIE update on the website on October 17th

Sent in RFIE documents on October 24th

Documents received status  for RFIE -was updated on the website October 26th

Submitted a request to expedite my EAD November 9th

Received email from USCIS requesting more proof for the expedite request November 13th

Case history shows that expedite request was assigned to an officer November 13th

Faxed documents in response to the email November 15th

Spoke to Tier 2 officer on December 7th because I was concerned about lack of updates after expedite request and asked if for my satisfaction if I could send the papers again via UPS. The officer said there would be no hard in sending it via postal service as well.

Mailed documents for expedite request again on the 7th of December - Delivered at USCIS 8th of December

Received email from USCIS stating that my case and request was under review

December 14 Expedite request approved

Hi guys, from what I learned here on VJ, if we have a potential job offer, we should apply for the expedition for the EAD, not the potential employer. Is that right?

I have a potential employer who said they would help me to do the expedition via their legal department. I promptly corrected him because I thought I should do it. They just need to send me the offer.

But now I am not so sure since he should have more expertise than me.

Hi !

Thats how I submitted my expedite request, I got the offer letter and had to submit the expedite request by calling USCIS

you can ask your employers how they help since only the applicant can submit for an expedite request

Thanks for your reply! Cool. That is what I told him on the phone. I said I just need the offer letter in writing so that I can fax it to the USCIS. I do not need their assistance in obtaining a visa. He then said he will talk to their legal department...

Probably I will not hear anything until next Tuesday.

@astronot No, he didn't ask for any of the documentation I took with me (which was quite a lot, as I took everything I could think of). The interview was really easy. Hope you have a similar experience.

@JoJoJoJo The applicant is the one who has to expedite. Maybe they can provide a formal letter besides the offer, but otherwise not sure what else they can add. Keep in mind that it seems to take about a month for the expedite to be approved and some extra time for you to receive the card. Just saying as it would be better to plan your future start date with these in mind.

Hi @Anish87

In this thread most people applied to AOS through K1 visa/family visa. Not sure if there is a specific one on B1 visas that may help you better.

K1 visas have already been checked before and they would have picked the mistake at an earlier stage. In your case, I guess if they thought you were already married and adjusting through marriage they would have sent a Request For Evidence first rather than wait until the interview. However better be prepared, just in case. Not sure if there are any documents you can provide to show you were single.

@Gemma Thanks! I have been very up front about my situation, so hopefully the potential employer is not going to be surprised about anything. There is not a start date yet as they also need to do my background check.

I am an early October filer (with an RFIE for I-485), hopefully I will receive my EAD regardless of the expedition. :)

No, nothing. Funny thing is I paid for a new certified copy of the translation, but hey, better safe than sorry. After my RFE I didn't want to risk be asked for something so I took copies of the previous stuff plus copies of evidence of living together. Most times when I go prepared they do not ask for much. At least that's my experience now and with my previous visa.
