Thank you. I hope y'all get approved soon too. Do not go by the processing times on the USCIS website. According to the webpage Indianapolis is processing March applications. But we filed in September. I think a little bit of luck mixed with the simplicity of a given case goes long ways. :)

August 2011- Arrived in the US on an F1 visa.

February 2012- Started dating my wife.

May 2013- graduated with Master's degree.

September 2014- Started getting my Phd.

September 2016- got engaged

January 2017- got married

August 29- Mailed i-485, i-130, i-765, i-131

September 1st 2017- Package received by USCIS

September 8th- Check encashed

September 9th- online notification, email notification, and text notification. Case being processed by NBC.

September 11th- NOA 1 received via mail.

September 15th- NOA to attend biometrics received

September 27th- biometrics appointment completed

October 6th- a yellow form asking me to bring my i-693 to the interview

October 17th- received online notice that interview has been scheduled

October 20th- received the interview letter.

November 20th- Interview.

November 20th- Approved and got the I-551 stamp on my passport.

Now waiting for my green card in mail.

Question about home visit... We are planning to travel for a week. USCIS would not visit us unannounced, would they?

(We are October filers and just sent back our response to their RFIE)

If USCIS decides to visit your home, they would do so unannounced. Looking through VJ, it seems that while random home visits are something that may happen, they are not very common and generally fairly painless if you are in a genuine relationship.

You can't always be home in case USCIS decides to drop by, so I wouldn't worry over a 1 week trip. The likelihood of having a random home visit seems very low.

Thank you. I cannot give you legal advice but according to me they would not make an unannounced visit. And as long as you remain in-status they should not care about your travels. I hope this helps.

February 2012- Started dating my wife.

Thanks! Hopefully they are quite busy and do not have the time to visit us just yet, especially we sent back our RFIE reply only last week.
