Hey there fellow January K1 filer ;),

I don't care about the AOS myself, I care about the EAD/AP, as I am eager to go visit my parents back home before a year and I would like to be able to cross to Mexico again (we are couple hours from the border)...And well I want a job haha! I am indeed getting bored at home and I just want to be able to start my career...It is not a huge deal, but I wish it  could be as fast as it can be indeed. Nothing you are missing and I am t totally with you on the AOS process and being with our loved one finally!

Hope things are going my great for you. The first half of the year was rough for us all but we stayed strong and now have the reward.

Hi Val,

No, I did not get any update on the USCIS website. I just found it in the mail the day after my birthday. So thoughtful of USCIS to send me a birthday present <_< Just kidding.

The USCIS website state hasn't changed since September 14th when they acknowledge receiving the documents. It did not change either when they sent my biometrics appointment. In my case, it doesn't seem to be very reliable.

Gemma

Hi Gemma,

Good birthday present still tho. :P I mean you received something in your mail less than a month from filing! I read something on July filer's i believe that she gof RFIE after 3 months and ead and ap was reset. I feel bad for her, we are considered blessed.

Mine didn't change too since Sept 12 acceptance notice. I asked someone from july, they said it will only change from "biometrics fee received" to "ready for interview"

I believe it isnt reliable. lol. Some people got their combo card and it still says "case received"

Belated happy birthday by the way!

Was very stressful :/

That's the next thing I need to settle. The biometrics letter has the right address by the way. I also talked to USCIS tier 2 officer over the phone confirming my address and it's correct. I need to contact USPS about this. I do receive other letters like from my bank but not the USCIS mails which is very strange. Until now I haven't figured it out. There will be more mails coming so I need to fix this soonest.

Do you guys have any idea what went wrong? I live in apartment, asked the neighbors if they got my mail they said they didnt get it. USCIS has the right address. So my only doubt is USPS. I have registered my name under this address too to USPS and only the USCIS mail wasn't received.

-Val

Hello.. same thing happened to me before. Not receiving mails from UCSIS and SSA. Social security advised me to visit a nearby USPS. I was told that it's an issue they've encountered a few times in the past with USPS. So we did and my husband registered both of our names, my married name, under our address and from then on I started receiving mails from these federal agencies. He couldn't believe it either. I don't think it happens to everyone though.

Hi Dystopia!

I have resolved mine, although we have registered both our names in our current address we still had the same issues. To find out it was the mailman's fault. USCIS resent the NOA's and received it, hopefully we wont have any issues like this again :)

Glad to know you have resolved yours too :)

Add me to the pot of someone who just got an RFE, but whose case status did not change online. Is it common for them to be looking at cases this early? Mine is a simple fix with a missing tax form, but I only filed around 35 days ago - sending it back today and now hopeful of a quick decision..

I think it is fairly common to receive an RFIE within the first 2 months of filing the AOS petition. I also just received an RFIE, and now my main concern now is since my online case status didn't update when they sent the RFIE request (still says that the original documents were received Sept. 12.), will it update once they receive my additional documents? I am afraid that I'll need to keep calling them to get updates on my case and ensure that my evidence was received...

I’m new to the AOS game like I assume most others here are too, but maybe I’m missing something when I see people upset about having to wait on USCIS for AOS. Maybe it’s the fact that my wife doesn’t plan on working or leaving the US that makes us not care how long USCIS takes?

I would like to know why people seem to be upset that AOS takes a long time? I cared how long the K1 process took because I was separated from my Love, but for AOS I don’t care at all how long AOS takes because we are together. Should I care? Is there something I am missing that would make me care? When I see people seemingly upset over the wait I get paranoid that I am missing something.

Hey I was a January K1 filler too 👋🏼 Nice to see some "familiar" names on here :)

I agree with you both, it's not a big deal (at least not as much as it was for the K1).

I am not super mad about the AOS waiting time (already knew it was going to be like that) but I'm with PR&PR on the EAD/EAP eagerness. My grandfather passed away right after I sent my AOS file and I was not able to go to his funeral because I didn't have the NOA1 yet and it happened on a Friday so I couldn't make an info pass. Also, not really having an official "status" here is a little more complicated than I thought it would be!

I am also getting bored at home when my husband is at work, and would like to start working as soon as possible... but I knew it would take a while. (Didn't expect the EAD/EAP waiting times to go up like that tho lol)

Maybe they do like in the K1 process, they look quick through files for the little RFE and then the big wait start? Some people in the August thread got their interview scheduled already though...seems to depend a lot on the local office.

The problem is not everyone goes through the local office. Because if you don't have an interview you don't go through the local office. That's why interviewees get their green cards a lot quicker. I actually hope we get an interview, since I'm in Montana and they are as of now, furthest ahead in processing anywhere.
