Affident of support help

Hello! So still waiting on out noa2 in which I sent June 22. I will be visiting my fiance in one month and want to bring all the necessary paperwork for the affident of support so he has it. My question is is it ok to get everything ready before the approval, meaning dates on bank statements and letter from employment now. Or do I have to wait to get the app first?

Wait for your NOA2. Once you have it, collect everything you need for your interview.

Ok thanks. So don't bring g all the paperwork ahead of time then. I was trying to avoid mailing it internationally.

Yep. You can even have it scanned and emailed if you want to avoid the cost. But it depends on her consulate. Where I did mine, they wanted the originals, so I had my husband mail me everything so that I can provide the forms with wet signature on them.

 

In Manila, Philippines tho, scanned and emailed docs for the interview are okay.

 

So check with her consulate, read reviews, contact those people who went through the K1 visa interview in the same consulate and ask them if having originals is necessary.

Hey! I recently interviewed in the Dominican Republic with my fiancé for his K1 visa. Thankfully, they didn't even ask us for the affidavit of support! We brought one just in case, but they never asked for it. It was listed on the email we got from the embassy as things to bring to the consular interview. Here is the list they sent us in the email of documents to bring. Of the things listed below, they only asked for the DS-160, medical report, police certificate, and original birth certificate. They didn't even ask to see any evidence of our relationship! They did ask for our NVC case number, though, and we did not have it with us, so that might be a helpful thing to bring as well. They looked it up for us. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. 

"For a Consular Interview

• DS-260 or DS-160 (K/fiancé(e) visas) confirmation page
• Medical Report (no X-ray films or discs)
• Police Certificate
• Original of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree

Hey! I live in Massachusetts, and my fiancé lives in Santo Domingo.  

So I think the majority of people interview as a couple, from what I observed at my day at the embassy. We were only asked one question, and they had me answer it, asking how we started dating. There was a little scanner they used at the end of our interview to select aspects of our interview using barcodes with labels on the wall, and one of the things they scanned was "petitioner present", so maybe it's important to them. I saw a woman who went alone not have her application approved because she did not have enough evidence of the relationship, but it sounds like the only evidence she submitted was a single photo! And even though it was not approved they said that she would need to come back to the embassy with her partner, so I feel like worse case scenario is if they don't like that you're not there, they'll give you a second chance but you'll have to fly in. I went through the consulate reviews here on Visa Journey for the Dominican Republic and a person recently went alone and was asked more questions than I was asked, but it sounds like it was approved! I copy and pasted what he or she was asked below. So I guess if your fiancé goes alone just have them bring a ton of evidence.  

"Good day, (the consul, friendly), the questions begin. - The petitioner did not come ?, - in working on? - Since when ?, (said ohh yes, it is new). - As they met, when? Because it lasted 1 year to come after they met - How many times has come, the time duration of the 1st and 2nd ?, - Where is it? (At this point she looked through the record, and I saw the pictures and everything sent my boyfriend to USCIS, When I said dates the nod) -the knows your family in the US - lives with his parents? In that year his father died, - Where he was born ?. -how Came to the US? They communicate? How often ?, - He called marriage ?, When you want to get married? big or small wedding? Congratulations your visa has been approved !!"

Ohh thank you!! That helps me alot!!! So they got approved going alone then? I will do everything in my power to go with him. But I have taken two trips this year, ( well I leave in 9 days for my second visit), so I'm worried about missing work but my boss is very understandable. How long did it take to schedule interview after the second noa2?? Sorry all the questions lol. Also, so since I haven't received my approval at this point can I bring any of the paperwork needed for the affident?? Like my employer letter, since it's just starting I'm working full time and my yearly income? Also my tax returns is ok since it was from last year? Thanks so much again in advance. Amanda 😬

Our NOA2 was dated 6/15, and we got an email from the embassy telling us we could start the process on 7/7. My fiancé and I had our interview on 9/18, but we took our sweet time doing the following paperwork. The first thing you will have to do after getting your email from the embassy is fill out a form online called the DS-160. Once that is done, you can start working on the other things to prepare for your interview. The steps are listed really accurately at this link: I'm sorry I don't actually know much about the affidavit of support. I don't have an income so I used my parents as co-sponsors, and totally forgot to get an employment letter. I don't know how to fill it out properly. Sorry!
