Question on making the interview

I am curious as I have never done this before - So my fiancé has paid the visa fee and completed the DS-160 form and emailed the consulate - How long does it usually take for them to contact you to make the appointment ? Thank you in advance - On a side note - All of this diplomatic posturing, closures, and reductions in staff have me nervous. I had to edit - This is at the Consulate in Moscow

I see you have NOA2.  Did you contact NVC?  What is the status of your petition?  Is it at the embassy?

We received email from embassy to schedule already, but there are issues with US Travels Docs account they need to fix first.  We should have interview date this week.

I have contacted the NVC -  I received an email from the embassy and figured that it was good. Actually, it was pretty quick. I think about 10 days from NOA2. Right now the status says "Administrative Processing" - My fiance has paid the visa fee and completed the DS-160, there didn't appear to be any issues and now waiting for them to say that we can schedule interview.

I am not even sure how people can actually get any of this done - Without this website, nothing would be clear or explained.

So after doing the visa fee and DS-160 - We would create a login and then schedule the appointment ourselves ?

Yes DaveS1172.  Here was what I did:

2016-09-08          I submited DS-160 forms online and printed out confirmation barcodes

2016-09-08          I created online account on ustraveldocs.com/, filled out information, got CGI slip

2016-09-09          Fiancee paid visa fee $265 x 2 at her country Post Office (fiancée and her son)

2016-09-10          I scheduled K-1 interview online for Nov 21

2016-09-12          Fiancee scheduled medical exam her country's Hospital (via phone) for Oct 17

Awesome - thank you for your response. I spoke with my fiancé and she said that she went in and selected a date. Do they respond or is it best to create the medical appointment and email the documents to the consulate ? I am so appreciative and I wish all the best of luck with the process.

Review the Embassy website for information

Your fiance will need to schedule medical appointment.

Your lucky you have an appointment date - we are still waiting for available appointments.

Hi DaveS,

I'm not sure I clearly understood your question, but here is what I did:

2016-09-12          Fiancee scheduled medical exam at her country Hospital (via phone)

2016-09-15          Fiancee sent postal mail Pkg3 to Consulate (DS-160 bar codes, copy passports, passport photos)

2016-09-15          I sent online inquiry to Consulate to ask for Instruction Letter

2016-09-15          I received Package3-Instruction Letter via email

2016-09-15          Pkg4 is included together w/Pkg3, it is called K-INSTRUCTION.  I got it via downloading online

2016-09-16          I checked CEAC.state.gov status “READY” (Status updated date: 16-Sep-2016)

2016-10-25          Fiancee had her Medical exam at her country hospital.  Nurse said no vaccination is needed for K1 visa.

Best,

I am sorry if I have given confusing information - I am not sure that we have an appointment - I spoke with my fiancé and she had told me that she requested a particular date and has yet to hear back from the embassy to confirm or deny - I looked on CEAC and my status is "Administrative Processing" but still received the message from the embassy with the normal processing of visa fee, DS-160, and schedule interview. We have gathered all of the information - I am curious if anyone has any experience with calling the embassy ? I have called NVC and they basically punted and told me that everything is being driven by Moscow. I called the embassy and have been unable to figure out what number or who I should be talking with. How did it go ? Clowns to left of me, Jokers to the right - Here I am stuck in the middle with you ?

Hey!

When my fiancé got a letter that I can proceed with an interview, I paid visa fee and also requested the particular date. In couple days I got an e-mail that my request was approved. After that I was able to pick up a date on their website and finish scheduling.

give them couple days and if your fiancee won't receive anything from the embassy, your fiancee can call and ask when your request will be approved. She has to tell her passport number, date of birth, first name/last name.

I mean US embassy goes through hard time right now so it can take more time for them to proceed with your fiancee request. No one knows how cut of stuff affected IV visas...

When you say she went in and selected a date - was that at the embassy?  We are still waiting for appointment schedule to come out on Travel Docs site.  Hoping this comes out this week.

The embassy opens tonight, and I plan on calling to ask for interview date.  I will use the number that they send with the email saying you can schedule interview 1-(703) - 745 5474.

I don't know how helpful they will be, but have to try. Very anxious to get this interview scheduled.
