V24- You are waiting so long not to apply N-400, it is better to wait a month for your ROC approval otherwise it might get complected.   I applied N-400 ( Nov 25, 2018) while ROC pending.  Got my passport stamped for a year and might or might not get GC, but mentally accepting it and will go directly for N-400 interview , says will be completed by Feb 2020.  So maximum another one year waiting time for the final immigration journey.

That’s what I thought, I am so close now I may as well wait. But someone else here just told me that applying may make it faster. I’m going to wait 2 more weeks. I tried to call today but tried almost all options to get to a real person and couldn’t 🤔

My N400! Application’s time line is 10 months. My goal is citizenship before hell breaks loose in this place. If I get my 10GC great,  if not I don’t care. I came here to become a citizen. Thank you USA 🇺🇸

I wish I did just apply for n400 because I’m still waiting this long only for my roc! Then all over again when I do finally apply for n400.

If becoming a citizen is your end goal, then I'd advice you go for it by applying for N400 and let your waiting time start counting instead of waiting for i-751 ... With i-551 stamp/extension letter, you can almost do every thing you're doing with GC so why not take advantage of the time.

For me, I'm already 5 months into waiting line for N400 and hopefully 5/6 months to go according to Dallas FO recent timeline ...

avoid foreign travel ( if possible to avoid inconvenience)

, wait for the N-400 approval and done with immigration journey.

haha ... to be honest with you, nothing is inconveniencing traveling with an extension stamp; it's same thing as traveling with GC. I have gone in and out of the country 6 times now with stamp without any delay or issues. I enjoyed traveling a lots. (the funny thing is that I didn't start making foreign trips when my GC was valid it was after filling for i-751 and have not heard any issues whatsoever)

I received my approval letter in the mail today. :jest:

I filed it on Sep 14, 2017, at CSC and my case was transferred to 'Nebraska' on Nov 6, 2018.  I called USCIS and talked to tier 2 supervisor, who assured me that my case was transferred back to CSC even though I didn't receive an updated transfer notice.  It is very random as I have seen people with same notice date as mine getting approval notice a month ago.

Hope other sept filers and ROC candidates get it soon.

Can you please share the number you called to speak  with Tier 2 officer and also i am not very familiar with this process what is Tier 2 Officer means?

@mymercy Hmmm .. do you mean the I551 passport stamp ? I recently was prevented from boarding a plane from Mumbai that had a layover in Germany on the I797 extension letter citing that Germany does not allow expired GC with I797. Does the I-551 stamp work in Europe ?

Yes the I551 stamp works in Germany without issues - it is a Green card after all. I think your particular case is due to having a non-Schengen passport from a country (India) that Germany requires transit visas from under certain circumstances and/or valid US visas for transit to the US. Essentially complicated rules for certain countries & the local personnel might not have been appropriately trained. Essentially you ran into a local German problem of bad training, nothing that has anything to do with the I-751 itself.

Whaat! That's crazy ... yes i-551 passport stamp. I've been to Canada, African countries, France, Israel and Italy with it and came back in without any issues (I flew Delta airline though)

I’d also appreciate anyone telling me how to reach an officer on the phone? I tried a lot of options but had no luck!

TabeaK- for an Indian citizen, it is better to use AIR INDIA to fly directly to India, as Tabeak mentioned some countries need transit visa for non-Schengen passport.  I have I-551 stamp, flying directly for JFK to New Delhi.
