Mymercy: So when the message says " case was received at my local office" when you check the case status, it means , case is in the service center ( VSC).  I applied N-400

are you referring to the message everyone got in February and March? If yes, those ones are computer/system glitch ... almost everyone on here got those.

The case wasn't transferred to any where at that time

Peeps, please help. I filed in sept 2017 when I was still much in love with hubby. We filed jointly. Later on down the road, he cheated on me and physically abused me so the police got involved and there is a no contact order in place. I was so depressed and broken hearted so I waited months to file for divorce. I finally got my divorce decree and in the meantime I was working on changing my name with SSA, but my I751 got approved. I didn't have time to collect all the evidence I wanted to send for the abuse and affair, and now I have a letter saying I got approved. How do I let uscis know about my divorce? Thank you

I don't think you need to do anything ... move on with your life as a GC holder ... the only difference is that you cannot file N400 based on 3 years rule but have to wait until 5 years ... Congrats on your approval and good luck with your next level

This is correct.  Once you have your green card you do not have to tell them if you get a divorce. Once you apply for your citizenship (you have to wait 5 years from original GC instead of 3) you will most likely have to inform them you are now divorced but it doesn’t change anything.

I revived my brand new green card in the mail 12/19. It’s beautiful but it doesn’t have all the tiny presidents on the back. I am slightly disappointed about that!

haha this sounds funny to me :) have not even taken time to look into all those details. All I check is my name spellings and DOB ... All I care about is the card itself to be valid even if it's just as plain as the i-551 stamp .... hahahaha

actually the previous answers are not correct , whenever s time for u to apply for citzenchip they will find out that you got divorce before the i 751 got approve and u didnt report that to them so they can count it as fraud and not just denied your citzenship but even revoke your gerren card and deportation , freind of mine that what happends to him and he even have kids here through that marriage , you will need to hire laywer .

Get a lawyer, it will definitely affect your n400 and Green Card renewal in the future. Just get an immigration lawyer. "Always measure twice and cut once"

I got a RFE this morning and I'm a little confused.

It says: GOOD FAITH MARRIAGE, INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE and then on the next page SUBMIT MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

I have sent in

  • a bank statement with both my husband and I sharing a checking and savings account
  • tax returns showing we filed jointly
  • I sent in my marriage certificate
  • I sent a renting agreement showing that we lived with his sister and her husband
  • I sent photos (which I know are not evidence)

We have moved to a new house which is in my BIL's name. We pay half in cash to them but we are not on the mortgage.

Now I am a little baffled as to what to send to them. We don't have children, we don't have credit cards and we don't have any shared bills.

I will send:

  • an updated bank statement from this year
  • tax returns from the past years since we can't file yet (or should I wait until we file and send that too?)
  • affidavits from family members to prove we are in a real relationship
  • a copy of my marriage certificate

Does it say to submit just the marriage certificate? If so, you don't need to submit other things. It has happened to me once when they lost a copy of my certificate and issued RFE for that as well.

we received an approval notice in the mail yesterday, but when we check online it still says On February 26, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number. Has anyone everyone received approval without the USCIS website being updated?

It says
You have not established eligibility to have the conditions on your residence removed. Please submit your response to this request for evidence along with a copy of this notice.

The it says in capital letters and underlined:

GOOD FAITH MARRIAGE, INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE

To establish eligibility for removal of conditions on residence, please submit additional evidence to show you and your spouse entered the marriage in good faith and continue to share a life together. The evidence may include, but is not limited to the following:

LONG LIST OF THINGS WE MAY INCLUDE

Then

SUBMIT MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

Submit a photocopy of the original marriage certificate for the marriage of ME and HUSBAND. The marriage certificate must be issued by an appropriate civil authority. In order for the marriage to be considered valid for immigration puproses, it must have been legally valid in the location where the marriage took place. The document must include the date of registration and signature of the registrar.

So does that mean both? or just the marriage certificate? (which I definitely included in the package I sent)

[2] no harm, sending the bank statements from September 2017 to October 2018

[3] November, usually update the medical benefit , so any latest documents

[4] Any new lease documents update

[5] Both diver licence showing you live in same address

[6] If you open any credit card or store cards or any joint loan between September 2017 to October 2018

[7]  If you both went and stay in a hotel or air ticket to same destinations
