Got the courtesy copy of 18 month extension letter today. What is the difference between courtesy copy and the original notice?

That's a precursor to the actual letter. I was a little worried with mine to but a week later I received my actual letter. The actual extension letter will have the statue of liberty on it.

This is what the receipt number represents.

AAA - 15 - 123 - 00000

Processing Service Center

The first three letters indicate the USCIS service center which is processing the petition, as follows:

– EAC – Vermont Service Center;
VSC – Vermont Service Center;
– WAC – California Service Center;
CSC – California Service Center;
– LIN – Nebraska Service Center;
NSC – Nebraska Service Center;
– SRC – Texas Service Center;
TSC – Texas Service Center;
– MSC – National Benefits Center;
NBC – National Benefits Center;
– IOE – ELIS (e-Filing); and
– YSC – Potomac Service Center.

Fiscal Year

The next two digits represent the fiscal year in which USCIS received the petition.  In the example above, “15″ means that the petition was received by USCIS during Fiscal Year 2015.   Note that the government fiscal year runs from October 1st until September 30th.

Computer Workday

The next three digits represent the computer workday on which the receipt was processed and the fee was taken.   This represents the sequential workday on which USCIS is accepting cases for intake.    In the example above, 123 would indicate that this was the 123th processing date of the fiscal year.    If necessary, a date of filing can be calculated starting from October 1st.

Case Processing Number

Finally, the last five digits are used to identify uniquely the petition filed.    Our observation has been that these are sequential numbers which are issued as cases are being processed at the intake facility.    Cases filed together are often given sequential (or close to sequential) numbers for the last five digits (and overall).

Strange, in that case your file number would be EAC17363 OR 364 which is after me & you already have approval. seems there is no logic to sequence, they probably got to yours first

That's awesome. That's for NY, correct (based on your info unless that changed)? I'm planning on submitting my N400 and also filing from NY. What did you submit if you don't me asking?

I'm getting nervous. I never received the second extension letter and the case inquiry has been stating the same thing since April:

Case Was Received At My Local Office

On April 9, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number EAC1734XXXXX, at your local office. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Is there anything I need to do?

I received the same so hundreds of other people. It was a glitch, so dont worry.

It depends on the IO that was reviewing the case, too.  Sometimes it is just a weird lottery that no one understands but we are all happy that at least something is moving. 🙂
