Has anyone received the new extension letter yet?

My wife has an appointment with USCIS San Antonio Office on Jul 26 because we are flying to Germany on Aug 29. Her extension letter would've expired while we were in Germany. She could've gotten the appointment about 1.5 weeks earlier or more but that time was convenient for us.

Hi everyone, I'm a September 2017 flier too, with my GC expired on Nov 2017, and a one year extension letter. I just heard about the new 18 months extension letter. Would love to know if there's anyone else have received it too!

Also, lately due to Trump being Trump, I'd read these news and am a bit worried:

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/07/the-trump-administration-is-working-to-deport-more-legal-immigrants/

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/04/married-immigrants-seeking-green-cards-are-now-targets-for-deportation/

I have never really worry much about my applications before, as our relationship are genuine and have strong evidence. But with Trump, one can never tell.

Thoughts, anyone?

Well, the article that you shared was a case where an applicant was already given a court order to be removed. So ICE just executed that court order as US constitution required it. It does not apply to your case or most of people's cases. The article does not specify why he was given a court order for removal, and therefore, I would assume it was something fishy.

Unlike this case, most of marriage cases are not involved with previously court ordering removal, and therefore it will not affect. Additionally, if you are already a green card holder, you do have a legal right to seek a due process as protected by US constitution.

While is true that Trump administration seeks for more deportations, there are certain limitation that they can't really enforce, I would say don't worry too much about it.

Hi, it's this week's Thursday 7/19/2018 ... I will post whatever the outcome is on here ... thanks :)

So I went in today as stated above and I got my passport stamped and my expired green card wasn't taken away from me.

I asked the officer the current status of my case and expected time of completion :) ... He said everything looks good and no red flags and nothing is required from me that the case is just waiting for it to be assigned to an adjudicating officer and the process is little slow and can take 18 months as it is but I can however file for N400 within my 90 days windows of 3 years as GC holder if I want to.

He didn't mention anything like it has to be one month to the expiry of the extension before a stamp could be issued ...

So if you guys need stamp, I guess all you have to do is make an appointment and go in there with all your documentation (the receipt basically and your int'l passport).

good luck to us in this LONG WAIT ... :):):)

So guys, as far as I know from this portal, that you can stamp 1 month before your extension letter expires? guess that not the case?

Mine expires in November, but I want to find a new job, having a i551 stamp would be good to have .....please suggest  :)

I don’t think it’ll be an issue. I changed jobs and gave my expired green card and extension letter. I’ll have to submit the other extension once (IF) I get it.

No update on my end since the change February 26, 2018. Mailed it in September 2017.

Hello,

We just got back from Vancouver, Canada. No problem whatsoever. We flew with American Airlines and Delta on the way back, and their staff was familiar with the process.

While in Vancouver, my husband and I crossed the US border by car to visit a friend in Seattle, and the process was also smooth. No questions asked.

I'm working as a temp and now the company are converting me to a full time employee, which means I need to start the background check process all over again. Which means I need to show then my (expired) green card and extension letter, which legally will be expiring in about 3-4 months (November 2018). I just need assurance.... that the company are legally not allowed to refuse to hire me because of that, correct?

I got a job recently with a state government with expired green card and extension letter ...

So you should be good as companies understand the process so well too ..

Under the law, companies need to be understanding if you have  valid paperwork...  I don't understand companies that are trying to give you a headache when saying they don't know if this is valid or not/need to verify the authenticity of what you are providing them with.. ohh boy  My company is very understanding and I am thankful for that

It's a huge company so they're probably well aware, and at the very least would probably not go against what was clearly stated in I-9 form about expiry date discrimination. Thank you guys! I'm just a nervous wreck, trying to find more assurances. You guys helped :D
