God I just had a total heart attack thinking we forgot our biometrics appointment!!!! We didn't ! We went on oct 5th! I seriously had to look through the calendar to see what the hell we did !!! I'm so sick of this process omg! I think watching the news and seeing how families are being torn apart is getting to me. Ugh. And now it's 2018 and I'm in shock

we are STILL in this process!!!! I just want to cry!  Sorry done venting ! Lol

now on to other things. Can my husband, who's the one lifting conditions , apply with me in a mortgage if he's in this limbo status ?

yes I think he should be able to apply with you. From the info I got while processing our own mortgage, all they need is his credit report and social sec number as we were told that Permanent residency doesn't expires but the card may expire. However, mortgage companies requirements are different so you might wanna check with yours first.

Did anyone check the USCIS website recently? I checked it before the holidays and the CSC is still on the exact same date of 8.20.2016, it’s kind of depressing not seeing it move, especially after the recent allegations in politics.

On another note, I am looking for another job (currently employed) while going to school... will the extension letter be enough for a new employer? I’m a little worried because a lot of places seem to not know or even understand in the extension letter...

Yes I had a similar situation. I joined a new firm by then my green card expired and i had extension letter. Yes extension letter worked fine for me along with expired gc.  your employer must be aware of handbook M274 for employers where it is stated that extension letter  along with gc is valid proof of list C document. If they are not aware that handbook You can download on uscis website and also see the follwing links what documents you can submit. Its upto employee to choose what documents to show.Hope it helps.

Yes. We bought a house, while both our names are on the deed, I took the loan on my own (right before my GC expired) and I had to provide the letter too. No issue with that. Good luck!! :)

I was thinking the same thing... I submitted the fingerprints in December and still no updates on USCIS site on the case ... quiet depressing and worrying 😒

you are a September 2017 filer. USCIS California Service Center is processing cases filed before Sept 7, 2016 and Vermont  - Dec 19, 2016. So definitely they will not look at cases filed in September 2017 for a year or even more for California and 9-11 months for Vermont...

I can’t believe it takes so long!!!

longer then get a green card in a first place!

When time comes closer to September we have to find out what to do next if we still have no permanent GC.

If the year is up you have to get a stamp for another extension in your passport. I just reminded hubs we have to check his passport expiration date.
