I got my biometrics letter in the mail on Saturday and OF COURSE it’s while I’m on vacation next week. And, it’s in Baltimore who are pretty notorious for not telling walk in appointments. Luckily I called up and they told me they’re quiet this week and I can walk in Wednesday. Thank goodness!

I've just got my conditional green card (from K-1) and had a few questions for you guys filing for ROC.

 

Do you have any advice/is there anything you wish you did between getting your green card and filing for ROC?

Does everyone get interviewed for ROC? Will it be me and my wife at the interview?

I'm seeing biometrics mentioned, will I need to do this too (I did this for AOS)

How long is the process expected to take currently?

What happens if your green card expires during ROC processing?

Awwww 15+ months at CSS?? I wish it wasn't this long! Does anyone knows what happens once the extension letter, well, expires and it's still under process? (DL will expire the same day, since they can't extend it past the extension date)

First, check your Green Card for any errors -- names, date of residence (make sure it roughly matches the day your AOS was approved). If anything is wrong, file a paper I-90 and return the card, no fee necessary (because the error is USCIS'). Any unresolved errors will bite you in the behind later. I know from experience.

 

Next, prep for the ROC. I wish I'd started much earlier. Most people get approved without interview. Current timelines for ROC completion around 1 year, but it shouldn't matter to you since you can get temporary stamps in your passport and can apply for naturalization after about 3 years. Your priority is gathering supporting documentation for your I-751 ROC petition every month or quarter (see my suggested framework for guidance, below), and possibly storing them in the cloud so the chance of losing them is low.

I checked my previous cases and see updates in the history but not sure about the current  l-751. I’ve done my biometrics and the appointment letter was stamped and it’s been three business days so far haven’t seen an update on line.  It would be nice to see the update there so we know what’s going on without having to call.

Sure would be nice, but doesn't happen with the I-751. 

After biometrics there is nothing but waiting for a long while, with no word from USCIS.

 

Online will change when card is in production,  but not for biometrics, an RFE or an interview.

just went into my Biometrics Appointment today and it was such a breeze (thank god for not many people).. in and out within 5 minutes!

I did my biometrics today. It was easy. Altogether it took about 15 minutes.

So now after biometrics we wait ? And make sure we don't miss our deadline of expired extension letter ! We need to make the infopass appointment within 30 days if the extension expiring right? 

Man this hurry up and wait stuff sucks. 

Mis anyone filing for citizenship? Our 3 year wedding anniversary is coming up and I think that's the point you can file for that? Does it null this RoC if we go that route ?

Yes you wait, and there is no deadline....

There is no requirement in law to get an extension stamp once your initial extension letter expires, before it expires , or indeed, at all.

 

It is of course sensible to do so - and in many cases will be needed for travel and renewal of drivers licenses etc - but don't panic if you have not done so when it expires, as you can get one at any time.

Nope. 3 year anniversary of becoming a LPR. Eligible to file on that basis if still living in marital union with the same spouse you gained permanent residence from, and you can file 90 days before the  3 year anniversary.
