Sure, its actually for the n400 interview.   So 3 of us went to the interview, my wife, me and our son, she is the only one went in but the IO saw me and my son.  The questions are like who is the father of our country? What do the 50 stars represent? What is the one right of being a US citizen? What is the name of our national anthem?  When was the constitution was written? What is the party of the current president?

The notice just says n400 interview.   The IO said that ur green card is not approved yet but i saw ur child so this is going to be easy.  So after she passed the interview, the IO explained her when and where you will take the oathtaking.  So she just said my wife passed the interview but not the ROC, but she will take a look at it.  The next day i received a text that my wife's GC and citizenship is approved.

I  am seeing similar pattern for several N-400 interview while I-751 is pending.  In my case, only N-400 interview, spouse was not called, when I asked about my I-751, IO asked whether my spouse with me.  I said yes.  He told me that he would review my I-751, I passed N-400 and no decision can be made.  Interview N-400 on June 28, both I-751 and N-400 were approved on July 3, GC arrived on 12 July and oath July 15 and passport application on the same day after naturalization.

In summary- go with your spouse if your I-751 is pending.

Interview has been scheduled for 8/5/19. No mention to my I-751 petition. Does this mean it will be just an N400 interview?

Recapping my timeline (Miami, FL):

Sep 2017 - I-751
Nov 2018 - N400
07/01/19 - Notice of N400 Interview
07/05/19 - Got letter with date for interview
08/05/19 - N400 Interview

So, guys, I had my N400 interview yesterday morning.

My husband came with me, just in case, since I had also a I751 pending, and as soon as the officer called me, she asked if I had my spouse with me. Notice of interview did not mention a need for him to go at all.

Officer escorted both of us to the interview cubicle. Spoke with us for no longer than 5 minutes (I was nervous, but had a whole folder with lots of evidence and photographs in case those would be needed.) Then showed my spouse the exit and finished the interview with me.

I was nervous because I am married to another man and you never know what type of person will conduct this interview or what suspicions they might have of a same sex marriage. (My husband's previous 10 year marriage was with a woman)

Officer (extremely pleasant lady) started with the civics test.

Questions like:

  • "What's one of the implications of becoming a US Citizen?" (Answer: To give up loyalty to other countries);
  • "Who vetoes bills?" (The President);
  • "Who is the commander in chief of the military?" (The President);
  • "Name one state that boarders Canada?" (Maine);
  • "What are the two main political parties in the US?" (Democratic & Republican);
  • "When we do the plead of allegiance, to what are we showing allegiance for?" (To the US and to the American flag).

She approved both applications on the spot and gave me a paper stating that I had passed the citizenship interview.

My status in the USCIS page has not changed so far.

Is it normal?

How long does it take to change or to get the oath ceremony notice in the mail?

It will go through quality review and they will approve it.  Hopefully soon.  Did you get any message that a new card has been ordered, that is the first thing you will get email and text , since theoretically they have to approve your I-751 and then N-400.  It happened on the same day in my case July 3, 2019, interview on June 28, 2019

Once they will say oath ceremony has schedule, you will see online notice in two days and in mail 4-5 days

Hello All

Finally I have an Update on mine:

Pending I-751 and N-400 combo interview was on July 31st.

Both approved on same day.

Quality approval happened on August 1st.

I got notification of oath ceremony letter mailed on August 5th.

Everything happened really fast for me. Hopefully same for rest of the people on here.

Congratulations.  Filled the online passport form and get an appointment in USPS on the same day around 2 hours after oath closed to oath place .  Take one passport photo, copy of drive license and your NC and apply passport and pay $60 more, you will get your passport in 10 days.

Nice I will do that. Waiting on the oath letter to arrive to find out my oath day. I think it is either sept 4th or 11th.

Why wait for 2 hours after oath?
