What does he need the original greencard for?? Im trying to think and I cant come up with any reason.... A copy of the card should be sufficient for most things, but its concerning that he would even need that. Is he applying for something on the childs behalf? Personally I would find out what its needed for before doing anything. If its a reasonable request, he can have a copy or you can send the copy directly to whomever/whatever it is its needed for. For example if its health insurance related you can send a copy to the employer or health ins company directly.

Thanks for responding, I just mailed the original to him. 😏

Those has been my questions to him too. I  can’t think of anything he will need it for given that he has a copy, but he keeps pestering me for it. Hearing his voicemails even makes my anxiety worse, and my blood pressure goes up. It literally stresses me out.

Thanks for your reply. Gosh! I guess I have to spend the same about of money applying for this as I did exactly a year ago.

Husband says he will take back what he said in the letter. Does anyone know if he can do that? We're hopig that'll let uscis proceed with processing our initial 485 application.

Failing which, I'd have to file the 485 all over again and hope for the best.

Thanks again

There are fee waivers if you qualify.

Also please dont take offense to this but VAWA is a form of relief the government offers to help victims escape domestic violence. If you are in an abusive relationship you need to get out for your safety. VAWA exists so one doesnt have to choose between staying in the abusive relationship for legal status or leaving for safety and being with out status.

I'm glad your abusive relationship is in the past.

He says he will write another letter to revoke the withdrawal. Do you know if this is doable?

When i filed vawa, i was only able to send my spouse social security # as a proof.  Do you guys think this could cause any delay in the case? Thank you

You better send affidavits stating why you think your spouse is an USC or LPR, including all information, such as all his address, SSN, other names used, where he was naturalized, etc. You then request USCIS to check for his status on you behalf. Just SSN may not be enough and you may get a RFE.

Hello everyone please I need your quick input. I left my children with my ex husband because I have no where to stay and don’t have a job to even provide for them. Long story short, I have the kids birth certificates and such. I left copies for him.

**He keeps leaving messages and voicemails for me that he needs my daughter’s green card. My question is am I going to ever need her green card for anything?

My concern is I don’t know if I’ll ever need it, because if I do, there’s no way I can have it back, once I mail it to him. Thanks

She will need if she will travel abroad,  if she is changing  school , go to the doctor appointment, applying  for SSN  etc., she needs to have at least one ORIGINAL identification, not a copy.

Hi All,

I went to my AOS interview yesterday and wanted to post my experience in case it is helpful to people.

I checked in,  and went to the waiting room. At the time I was scheduled, an officer came out and called my name. She then escorted me to her office. She swore me in and then asked me to sit down. Asked me if my lawyer was coming, and I said no and gave her a signed waiver form. I had already brought a waiver, but if you don't, they have a form for you to fill out and give to them. She asked for my ID, took a picture of my face, checked both my index finger thumbprints. Then she asked for my name, date of birth, parents names, country of citizenship, current address. Asked me a few questions like - are you a member of a terrorist organization, what clubs do you belong to, have you entered the US illegally, have you ever been out of status, have you voted in the US, have you represented yourself as a US  citizen, have you been part of a military anywhere. Then she asked if I was divorced, I said yes and gave her a copy of the divorce decree. I had already submitted it, but for some reason, it was not in the file. Then she let me know that I will need an updated medical examination since mine was more than a year ago. She then said that she can make a decision once my medical exam is received. That was it! It took about 7 minutes. I said that was quicker than I expected, and she said that my case was straightforward. She was friendly and respectful. She didn't ask me any questions about my marriage.

Hope this helps you all. Good luck!

You might experience some delay  if he was born in the U.S,if he is naturalized  American then they will find easily about his status and  they will have a copy  of his birth certificate as well. But I saw a few cases s that Uscis  couldn't find any information about the U.S spouse and issued am RFE.
