Hi, I'm a silent reader and I applied for vawa with a lawyer.

How do I know if my lawyer really sent my application?

Is there anyway I can do it? He did not provide me anything and he said I have to wait until the immigration send some notification.

But I have the feeling that he did not sent my documents yet, for some reason I think he just said that because I was kind of pushing him to do my paperwork.

He and his staff are complete busy.

Ask your attorney a copy of the USCIS receipt,if he filed over 30 days ago he received the  receipt.

After subsequent enquires about my pending VAWA I-485 case(pending since June 2015) via my congressman and my immigration attorney, I was informed that my case has been returned to VSC from the Field office where i had my I-485 interviews (i been had 2 different interviews since June 2015 ..kinda wierd right!!!) and is pending review by an officer now at the VSC... please what does this mean..??? Thanks everyone.

I posted before about your question, but let me explain better now that I am having lunch. The local office does not  have authority to deny a VAWA petition, but if during the time between the VAWA approval and the interview some new information came out about you that was not available to the VSC at the time of the approval the local office  has to send a letter to the VAWA Unit  supervisor explaining why  the VAWA case  should be reviewed  for possible revocation, and then the VAWA Unit Supervisor can revoke the VAWA petition or affirm, if the supervisor affirms then the case will return to the local office again. Usually these are some of the reasons to revoke a  VAWA case.

The person  commited a crime  of  moral turpitude .

The person got married before VAWA approval.

The person had a sham marriage.

The person used fraudulent doccuments in the VAWA case and the USCIS was unaware of the fraud at that time.

Do you guys think December filers will hear by the end of this year? Or is it more likely to not hear until next year?

Since early August, the USCIS has started adjudicating cases filed in October, 2016. However, two months have passed and they are still adjudicating cases filed in September and October. September filers on this forum are still waiting for decisions. USCIS hasn't started November yet. While we are about 2 months away towards Christmas holiday, I am afraid that probably most November and December filers have to wait until next year. :(

Oh great another year waiting again... Thank you @sandranj and @Hopemama

Hopefully not, My AOS interview was scheduled 5 months following VAWA approval. It does depend on how long your local field office is taking. But, I hope that it won't be another year for you.

Hello everyone! I have a situation where me and my spouse filled out the taxes together and he owed irs $25.000 and they owed me $3.000 so because we willed jointly we are both responsible now for the diffrence of $22.000. We are divorced now due to abuse. Is this gonna affect my vawa application even if im not responsible for the debt? Thank you!!

I don't think if you are in debt with your ex-spouse it will affect VAWA. VAWA is about the abuse you suffered from your spouse.

Thank you @azalea3. The AOS interview I was supposed to be scheduled with my spouse should be in about 1-2 months. We are now divorced and I'm filling for vawa. Should I send a notice to uscis to cancel the interview or they are going to cancel the interview automatically when they see I filled for vawa?

IRS debit will not interfere in the  VAWA decision, but to file for naturalization, later on, the person has to prove that he/she does not own money to IRS or to prove  the person has a "payment plan installment agreement" and  that the person is paying the debit.

Does anyone know where I can find a sample letter for requesting Prima Facie? And what address I should mail it to? (I have no idea what to write or what information to include and I had little luck looking online.)

You asked me this question before and I answered you (page 28). You have to submit to VSC, same place that you mailed your VAWA.
