I understand in this article that soon we cannot travel within US because we need a passport. All VAWA applicants then cannot travel within US because we need to be citizen of this country first before we are granted a passport?

Here are many Green Card holders in this country or people who are in the process to adjust status that cannot obtain a US passport. You don’t need a US passport to legally live here. You can always travel with your passport from your nationality. That’s why we have embassies and consulates of all countries present here, so you can always renew your passport.

Hi everyone

My vawa update: RFE mailed 9/22 .  Request for Additional Evidence Was Mailed

my case was filed Sept 2016, prima facie notice received soon after filing. no update for more than a year, until recently first RFE was issued, have not got RFE mail yet.......

I was lose patience after being waited more than one year , so I asked my congressman to inquiry on my behalf on 9/7/2017,  my congressman replied: USCIS reviewed the case and said my inquiry privacy act release form signature was different from the application signature. they can not disclose any info to the congressman . Before I want to ask congressman inquiry on my behalf again , USCIS issued RFE

actually I have prepared 60 days to gather enough docs for vawa filing.

personal statement ,9 pages

marriage certificate

marriage and vocations photos , also my wound and injury photos

affidavit from friends,  notarized

VAWA mental evaluation from professional counselors

good moral characters letter from employer and police clearance letter

joint home lease and insurance, phone bill ,tax return

I have no idea what additional evidence they will ask for,  bona fide marriage?  or abuser birth certificate?(the only thing that I don't have)

let see what's in the mail.

I have received the RFE, They asked only for GOOD MORAL CHARACTERS

They asked entire 3 year period evidence prior filing vawa.

as I already submit affidavits from employer  and friends attest am good moral characters. also Local police office clearance letter.

I think they will need my home country police clearance.

anybody can help if I need submit anything else to this good moral characters RFE?

THANK YOU!!

If you've been in America for 3 or more years you can get a police clearance from every state you have lived within that time. If you've been here less than 3 years then you will need to request police clearance from your country

Within the US as long as you hold a Passport, GC or License from a (federally licensed) state one uses

that for travel....some licenses are not recognized as federally accepted by DHS ...example  licenes issued

in some states to undocumented the airlines will not be able to board ppl with those

She got work permit before with category C31  but now she is filing I-765 using category  C9 then she has to pay the fees because it's not a renewal. If she can't afford  to pay the  USCIS fees then she can file form I-912.

Hello @sandranj

I filed i -360 in April 2016then i

filed i-765  in june  2016 with Category c31 after my prima faice

I got vawa approval in February 2017 and later i got my work permit in two weeks.

i  filed my i-485 in march 2017 on approved vawa

Now i have to renew my EAD do i need to pay the fees?

As last time when i filed for EAD with category c31 i request for fee waiver.

Please answer i am really confused.

Thanks in advance

You  don't pay to renew the EAD if ypu  are renewing under the same category,  but you  will file now under a different  category , C9,  then you  have to pay the fees or file form l912.

That's only if you have a DL from one of the nine states mentioned in the article whose DL does not comply with RealID. If you've been using the DL from one of those states, you can just use the passport from your home country. It does not have to be a US passport. If you live in any other state other than those 9 states, you can use your DL in order to travel through airports and so on.

Hi All.

Good news for me. My AOS interview is scheduled for 10/24! My VAWA was approved May 3rd. :-)

I was anticipating an interview in February or something. I am so excited and can't wait.

Sandranj - I am trying to decide if I want to hire my attorney to come with me. I am leaning against and want  to hear if you recommend that I take her with me. I have always been in the US legally. No felonies or arrests or anything else law-related. I am currently working on an H1-B. Since the VAWA has already been adjudicated, I am thinking that I should be fine in the AOS interview. I am not super nervous about it. Please let me know if you have any thoughts about taking my attorney to the interview anyway.
