I reviewed some VAWA and AOS  a few weeks ago but for some reason many of them could not submit the forms yet. The U.S. immigration changed all forms,, that being said who did not submit form l360 and the adjustment of status yet has to fill out the new forms.

The  l485 sample posted on VJ should be updated because the form l485 changed a LOT and there is no need to submit form G325A anymore.

Is  there anyone here from San Diego? I will be in SD on Nov 8,9 10 to meet some friends that I helped with their VAWA cases years ago. We will go out at night for a drink on Nov 9 or 10, then if you  want to join us send me a pm ok.  I will go to Texas after visiting SD but I don't have the date yet.

@sandranj

Just want to post a message to thank Sandranj for her help in filing VAWA I-360. I filed VAWA I-360 for a lady at the end of Jun 2016, and PM Sandranj for many questions, which were promptly answered so that I filed her case correctly, even without a RFE. Now that her VAWA I-360 is approved,  I would like to post her timeline as well as a thank you message for Sandranj.

Timeline:

6/27/2016: VAWA I-360 filed

7/7/2016: I-360 receipt received

7/11/2016: Prima Facie received

1/5/2017: I-485 and I-765 filed

2/17-2/21/2017: I-485, I-765 receipt received

3/22/2017: Biometrics appointment

3/27/2017 EAD approved (received about 10 days later)

May 2017: Contacted Senator for case assistance

Jun 2017: VSC informed Senator that her background checking caused her case out of normal processing time

Aug 2017: VSC informd Senator that her background checking complete and sent to final adjuducation

9/18/2017: Case (VAWA I-360) is approved!

Cheers and thank you again Sandranj!

Congratulations to the lady!

i have a quick question. You filed i485 & i765 on a later date than i360, did you file it in VSC or Chicago lockbox or NBC? What is the filing fee for both?

Thank you for your time

You should file with VSC ONLY for all VAWA related applications, I-485, I-765, AR-11, etc. VSC will then transfer your I-485 to NBC.
Please refer to the I-485 instruction for the correct fee (I-765 is included in the I-485 filing fee). You can file I-912 to waive the fee if qualified.

Captain Ewok just updated a bunch of sample forms (see his thread in the Site Discussion forum).  I just posted a request that he look at the I-485.

Let us know when!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi everyone and @sandranj

i asked the USCIS local office to hold my i485 in abeyance almost 20 days ago. My file was not forwarded to them by NBC so they canceled interview. How long do you think before I see an update in my status that they have forwarded it to VSC? Or what should I expect after the request to hold? Please advise. Thank you for your time

Sandra, Captain Ewok said that the I-485 sample form should be the correct one.  Can you please check, and post your reply to him directly in the thread here?

USCIS is messy, and sometimes they do not inform the petitioner that they shipped the case to NBC.
