Hi. I filed April 2017 but didn't receive a prima facie which wasn't a problem because I work. I'd like to restart school for summer classes but need financial aid. If I ask for a prima facie this month I'm assuming they'll only give it to me until April 2018. If I applied for school while it is valid, will I still be able to get the aid that I was accepted for once the prima facie expires? And once my 360 is accepted, can I apply for aid or do I need to wait for my green card? Thank you

Your Prima Facie will be valid for 180 days from the date they issue it to you. You need to renew it before it expires in order to continue receiving benefits (such as FAFSA). You can renew prima facie until your I-360 gets approved.

I decided to contact USCIS Ombudsman since my EAD is out of the processing time.

Anyone knows how long usually Ombudsman takes to answer? I received an email saying 45 business days but hopefully they respond before.

I believe the website says he has to answer within 30 days but maybe they extended it to 45?

I called USCIS to ask if my RFE on my i-360 impact my EAD processing time and they said that YES it impact since everything is connected.

What you guys think about it?

That applies when I-765 is filed under c31, not when you file under c9. C31 is directly linked to your I-360 approval, c9 is linked to you having a pending I-485.

I posted last week that there are already three filers got RFEs from the USCIS and all of them filed before 10th, November 2016.  Yesterday I learned a girl who filed on 18th, November just got RFE. Although there are still October filers waiting, USCIS should be working on November filers now. It is also frustrating to see that the four November filers all got RFEs from the USCIS. I don't know if USCIS has changed their requirement or something else.

What kind of RFE November filers got?

You can apply for financial aid with approved i-360, I am an April filler too, starting school by Summer, I requested prima facie extension since November 2017 and I did not get any response. I also need financial aid but my plan is to take little class until I receive i-360 approval then I can apply for it.

Thank you! I really need to finish my degree. I'm so close

Thank you. I'm hoping it'll all be done before school but you never know.

I was one of the ones with RFE, I think the rest are also the same as me.  Evidence of good Moral Character.  I think this is because the background and city clearances expire after 1 year and since these cases are taking longer than 1 year they probably want updated background checks.  That's my theory anyway.
