hi sandra

On January 31, 2018, we mailed a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number EAC********. The request for evidence explains what we need from you. We will not take action on your case until we receive the evidence or the deadline to submit it expires. Please follow the instructions in the request for evidence. If you do not receive your request for evidence by March 2, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I did an inquiry through congressman. Today the congressman office forwarded me the response from the USICS: "VSC is processing petitions of this type received prior to September 26, 2016. Currently your constituent's petition is in workflow pending assignment to an officer". On USCIS website, they are processing cases received before October 17th,  2016 as of November, 30th, 2017. It is weird.

My VAWA was approved yesterday. My VAWA notice date is October 6, 2016.

To summarize what had happened. I did an infopass on Dec 6th 2017 and I was told that my VAWA was already approved on Nov 30, 2017. But the isn’t updated on USCIS case status website. I trusted the infopass officer because during the same time I saw many approvals happening on this forum. I was not very confident but I was patiently waiting for the approval notice. After 30days of waiting on Jan 6, 2018 I did another infopass and asked the officer to help me get the approval notice. The officer again confirmed that it was already approved on Nov 30th 2017 and my attorney should send a letter to USCIS asking for approval notice.

I then contacted my attorney to write a letter, he was hesitant in the beginning but I forced him to send a letter. Yesterday it was updated that my VAWA is approved as of January 19th 2018, which is weird because the infopass officers gave Nov 30th as the approval date.

Everyone who are around the same timeline should also do something similar.

I got the approval letter and it also has deferred action valid for 15 months. It also mentioned that my case is put on low priority for removal (probably because my i485 which was filed with i-130 by my ex-wife , later withdrawn, was denied)

I see there are still some oct 2016 filers. I would recommend doing an infopass to gather some info

But some October fillers already received either approval or RFE, so I don't think that information is true, and i think it depends on the officer work load or how fast he or she is moving. If you are looking at Sept that would be 17months, I am an April filler and I don't want to believe that, lol.

I think the congress man probably inquired before they updated processing times and the person that the inquiries go to probably just looks at the processing times posted. I would contact the ombudsman and inquire through him.

You are right, they can't be processing September cases while website reflect October, an October filler in this forum got a RFE that she responded to in Nov 2017

I posted last week that there are already three filers got RFEs from the USCIS and all of them filed before 10th, November 2016.  Yesterday I learned a girl who filed on 18th, November just got RFE. Although there are still October filers waiting, USCIS should be working on November filers now. It is also frustrating to see that the four November filers all got RFEs from the USCIS. I don't know if USCIS has changed their requirement or something else.

Do you have any idea that the RFE is about?

Hi. I filed April 2017 but didn't receive a prima facie which wasn't a problem because I work. I'd like to restart school for summer classes but need financial aid. If I ask for a prima facie this month I'm assuming they'll only give it to me until April 2018. If I applied for school while it is valid, will I still be able to get the aid that I was accepted for once the prima facie expires? And once my 360 is accepted, can I apply for aid or do I need to wait for my green card? Thank you

You can apply for financial aid with approved i-360, I am an April filler too, starting school by Summer, I requested prima facie extension since November 2017 and I did not get any response. I also need financial aid but my plan is to take little class until I receive i-360 approval then I can apply for it.
