Mine was submitted in May and I just recently got approved end of November. So hang on there, I think you will get approved soon.

I remember your VAWA got approved early this year, why did you say you recently got approved?

I have been a silent reader for almost 1.5 years here. I submitted vawa on October 11, 2016. Today I received email from my pro bono lawyer that my vawa was approved on December 8, 2017. Almost 15 months of waiting. I checked my case status online everyday it still shows as my fees were waived. So have hope everyone, maybe ur case was already approved, but it just doesn’t show online. No RFEs, nothing. Thank you Sandra, for proofreading my affidavit!

Hi, did you Receive any Prima Facie in 15 months, please reply   thanks

Yes, i had 2 prima faciaes valid for 180 days both, and last 3rd one valid only for 60 days. The 3rd one expired on December 3, and when my lawyer requested another extension, she got informed that my vawa was approved on December 8, 2017. My online status still shows all fees were waived though, strange.

Hi everyone!!!!! @sandranj THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Because I filed my VAWA in January 10, 2017 and I got prima facie. And then last October of 201$7 I decided I will file my 485 and other documents and Sandra here helped me to submit which documents to send. And I just send them. And today I got my notice of receipt that the fees are waived. First, I will not know which documents to send but thank you Sandra!!!! From the bottom of my heart........ I am wondering now when the normal decision time will be after this? Or what will happen next? What should I expect next? I am waiting for my employment authorization too. Anyone can advice me??? What should I expect after this? Thank you everyone......

Congratulations, that's wonderful. The online status is not always up to date. When did you file for VAWA?

I am glad USCIS  waived the fees. The work permit you will receive within 90 days but VAWA is taking 9 months to be adjudicated.

Folks this year many people contacted because of some problems they had with the Justice and regarding foreign residence requirement etc, then I will explain here about these issues.

When you will leave your abusive spouse DO NOT TELL HER/HIM because is unsafe if he/she finds out that you are leaving. Take with you just a few items such clothing, medication etc..As soon you leave you should go to the Court to apply for a protective order and ask the court for custody and support of minor children.

Ask the Court to order supervised visitation between the kids and your spouse.  DO NOT DISCLOSE to your spouse or his family your whereabouts, and inform your family and friends that they cannot disclose your location.

If you got married while you were in removal proceedings then you MUST submit a letter called BONA FIDE MARRIAGE EXEMPTION  from the bar to approval at section 204(g) of the Act, most lawyers don't know about it and I saw many cases denied because the person or their attorneys failed to submit the  BONA FIDE MARRIAGE EXEMPTION LETTER.

If you made any mistake when you filed  VAWA  or AOS and just noticed then you can disclose this at the I-485 interview. USCIS will accept your  I-360 application if you are still living with your abusive spouse but YOU MUST  BE SEPARATED OR DIVORCED from your husband when you will attend the I-485 interview. VAWA was enacted to help victims of abuse to escape abusive and dangerous situations and not for you to get GC and continue to live with your abuser. If you don't have a place to go then seek refuge at one of the domestic violence shelters in the U.S.

If you committed any criminal offense in the United States or abroad you must provide COPY OF THE ARREST  and the CERTIFIED COURT DISPOSITIONS and submit along with forms I-360/ I-485. If you have already submitted forms I-360 /I-485 then bring to the interview the documents listed above.

If you are subject the two-year foreign residence requirement,  J-1 and J-2 nonimmigrant visa then you MUST file the waiver I-612 along with form I-485.

You guys, I am devastated.

I called this morning the group that was helping me with my VAWA just to make sure they hadn't reveceived anything (They put their address and name down as my contact) and while talking she decided to check my file when I told her I didn't even get prima facie.

They had my Prima Facie, they got it a week after my receipt in December of last year!! It's expired now, I'm waiting for the director of the orginazation to call me. I AM FUMING, I AM SO UPSET, I HAVE SPENT AN ENTIRE YEAR STRUGGLING AND THEY HAD MY PRIMA FACIE THIS WHOLE TIME AND NEVER NOTIFIED ME even though it was their job, I paid for their services!

There has to be legal repercussions for the damage they have caused.
