Ann Coulter: God Punishing Houston for Lesbian Mayor ‘More Credible’ Cause of Hurricane Than Climate Change

Ann Coulter is wondering about whether Hurricane Harvey was “God’s punishment” for Houston electing a lesbian mayor.

The notorious far-right pundit made the shocking assertion as Texas continues to be crippled in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which has seen thousands displaced from their homes and at least 14 deaths.

 

In the wake of the hurricane record rainfall has caused catastrophic floods across Texas and Louisiana.

It has been most severe in Houston, the fourth-biggest city in the US.

On Twitter, Coulter insisted it was “more credible” to believe that homosexuality was the cause of the hurricane than climate change.

 

 

She wrote: “I don’t believe Hurricane Harvey is God’s punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor. But that is more credible than ‘climate change’.”

The apparently unprompted assertion is a reference to former Mayor of Houston Annise Parker, who served as Mayor until 2016.

Parker has three children with her wife Kathy Hubbard, and faced a string of homophobic smears during her time in office.

I think both instances are equally stupid, but Coulters statement carries more weight because she is a well known polarizing public figure with many followers who believe her drivel. I also saw another statement from the looney tunes at the Westboro Baptist Church saying “Proud sin had the impact! God promised that he would repay U to your face 4 your hatred of His commandments!” There's cuckoo everywhere.

     God shares some of the blame too, for being so ambiguous with his punishments over the years. That just play's into the hands of looney's, if you ask me.

Annise Parker was a lifelong political hack who was slightly less unqualified than her opponent in her initial mayoral race (a yawner).

The lesbianism was not a particular issue, during the races or her terms in office.

 

The current mayor, Sylvester Turner, was probably elected chiefly because he was black (in looking at the characteristics of the voter turnout), but he's proven himself to be an exceptional, tirelessly engaged leader since the day he took office.  I don't live in Houston and wouldn't be involved in that vote, but if I did and were, I'd vote for him in an absolute heartbeat.

Both the climate change angle and the God is punnising the mayor angle are nonsense. I will say though it was utter incompetence on the mayor's part telling people not to evacuate. Sheer stupidity.

Except there is ample evidence to the fact the climate is changing, in the real world. In an alternate fact world, hurricanes happen every time a unicorn catches a cold.

Of course the climate is changing. It changed before humame were here and it will continue to change when we are gone. Also hurricanes existed before the industrial revolution in case you didn't know.

The County Judge and the mayor were unanimous in the "don't evacuate" decision.  There was NO WAY to tell which areas would be flooded.  Mass evacuation would have turned into another Hurricane Rita disaster or far worse.

Sophie's choice. Mass evacuations would have meant that many people who were rescued from their homes might end up stranded on the roads, amid rising waters. Stranded on the roof beats drowning in the bayou.

The Katrina New Orleans disaster was squarely on the corrupt mayor and Govoners shoulders. The feds begged them to evacuate.
