K1 visa adjustment of status

Hi I got married last year September and I'm currently living in the states. I wantbto know, because I don't have all the money that they are asking for, which is $1225 that will cover the entire process. My question is, do I need to pay that all at once or could I pay for each document 1 at a time?

You pay the $1225 all at once. When you file EAD and AP together with AOS, the EAD and AP fees are already waived.

what is an AP fee?

EAD is employment authorization. This is the I-765.

 

AP is advance parole. And this is the I-131.

 

Both forms have their own filing fees BUT when filed concurrently with the AOS, you only pay the AOS + biometrics fee which amounts to $1225.

There is only 1 form to pay for: the I-485. That's $1140 + $85 biometrics = $1225 total. All the other forms (I-864, I-131, I-765) do not have a fee with AOS.

 

Just to clarify, you married within 90 days of entry on the K-1, right?

yes i did get married within the 90 days.

Then yes, you just have the $1225 USCIS fee. You will also need a new medical if it's been over 1 year since your K-1 medical.

o ok. my previous form was taking at the airport at entry into the country. do you know the cost for the new medical fees?

Right, but if it's been over 1 year since you had the K-1 medical performed, then the medical is expired and you need a new one. The cost depends on what civil surgeon you see:

With the new medical, that means you'd need to get the civil surgeon to complete the I-693 for you. This form has no filing fee  It is to be attached to your AOS package for submission.
