Except, it pretty much IS true.  At least from the standpoint of the definition of elite:

elite or e·lites or élite or é·lites. 1. a. A group or class of persons considered to be superior to others because of their intelligence, social standing, or wealth: "Auguste Comte ... believed that in the age of science society should be ruled by an elite of scientists" (Lewis A. Coser).

Haven't googled so no idea what 1b, 1c are. Considered by whom? Superior intelligence? Perish the thought.

Well that's your personal choice. No need to mock those who choose to use big words. Sorry to read about your personal injury.

One of my previous posts,

"I am not hung on the word elite but do accept that there are those who are much more educated than me, I don't resent them for it nor am I jealous of it. Do I aspire to be an elite, not at my stage in life (early fifties), I am happy with my life"

it was not my intention to mock anyone, all credit to those who can understand the article.

Having an education is an asset for anyone. It's a tool, and it can be a weapon.  Anyone's better off with it, and anyone who has one will agree that it's a good thing, not to be overlooked, undervalued, and most definitely not to be underestimated.

It's great to know a craft, to be handy, and skillful, especially when you couple that with a good solid education.

The Merriam-Webster disagrees with The Free Dictionary:

I'm gonna remember you said that :D

Due to seizures and spinal curvature and muscle spasms I was uninsurable to drive a truck, the company changed structure and my job was given away. I was offered a new position at one third the salary if my doctor would sign a letter stating I was fit to return to work, but I was on seizure meds so the doctor refused. The company made me redundant.

I claimed for constructive dismissal and injury on the job but it took 10 years to get to court and on the day my witness to the accident never turned up. He was an employee of one of the companies clients, The barrister I paid to represent me never turned up in court and I got someone I didn't know and I was offered a pittance so I told them to shove it and walked out of the court. I was asked to come back and I was offered 20K but 10 went to cover legal bills. I was advised I could go back to the court the next day but the barrister would want an extra 5k, so I just took the money. The check was issued and my initial solicitor refused to accept any payment by way of apology. So I got 13k which felt like dirty money, we just went to Barbados for a few weeks to chill out and had a little cash left over when we came back.

I am now about 11 years seizure free and can drive, generally healthy with a funky thyroid and some extra inches on the waist but rearing to start a new life. Life's for living and I am just a simple guy looking for an normal life.

Like you said, not funny at the time, but now...  I think back to my time as a firefighter when I was on a roof of a single story house in Winter trying to cut a hole in it for venting.  I lost my footing and slid off luckily into a snow bank.  Even though my fall was a bit cushioned, I still feel it in my hips, and we laugh about it now.
