Hello,

We've been waiting over a year and a half for an interview because the case was initially sent to the wrong embassy. The case was updated on April 5 and is now marked 'Ready'. Do we have to wait again for the packet or how can be schedule an interview as we know they aren't very timely.

Hello

you have to call NVC and ask about your interview date. Becuase ready means that they had set the date for you and you have to attend the interview.

Hi Guys,

So i finally got this email from NVC. I need some help as I am confused. I have been living outside the USA since I was 6 ( I am a born citizen), however I have been going to USA for vacation. My parents also reside in USA. Now that I have applied for my husbands green card they are asking for proof of domicile. I don't have a bank account in USA or a house. I am currently in Dubai and want to move back to USA Could someone please assist us. We are really stressed now. The below is mentioned in the email form NVC.

When reviewing your case, we noticed that your sponsor might not have a principal residence or be domiciled in the United States. A sponsor must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident who lives in the United States and plans to stay indefinitely. If your sponsor is living outside the United States temporarily, they must show:  They left the United States for only a limited time,  They intend to keep their residence in the United States, and  Evidence of continued ties to the United States.

Hi

since you don’t reside in USA it is better to get a joint sponsor that reside there and pay the taxes properly for the past 3 years.  In addition to that I recommend that you file a new affidavit of support that shows that you have a domicile in USA. After that send both of them to NVC

they will process your documents and schedule an interview date.

@wolvarien thank you so much for the response. I have already sent the documents to NVC I -864. NVC has sent an email to me and they have mentioned the below:

Ok first of all you need to discard the previous I-864 and make a new one as you are the main sponser. In this one you should write your address ( your father address assuming that you are currently living with your parents) and for the employment you should state that you are unemployed because you recently moved back to the States.

Fill another one (I-864) as your father the joint sponsor and he should state his income for the past 3 years and on top of the is the US address.

Now or after filling both I-864 you should send them to NVC

In in this way you would  prove that you intend to live and work in USA and your father will bear the financial burdens if your husband ask for social support.

Thank you. When I called NVC last, they said that the embassy sets the interview, not them. Have they given incorrect information?

They are right. But sometimes there might be miscommunication and NVC won’t send the email for the date.

So it is better to stay vigilant about the date.

I would suggest to call them from time to time to check about whether they set the date or not.

Besides calling NVC, are there any other resources to use to get a date. We've reached out to the ombudsman. Is there a US number for the embassy in AD? I had it once but can't find it. It began with 703.

Well I am not sure about that. Usually NVC sends the email.

You can can try to call the embassy but it is very difficult to get a person to talk to you.

@wolvarien that you for the advise. I have been giving a few telephone interviews. One company has shown interest in hiring me. If they give me a letter mentioning that they would like to hire me will that help?
