Hi all AD people waiting for interview....can I ask you all one question: when you check your status on CEAC website, does it say "Ready" or "At NVC"? Mine still says "At NVC".

"At NVC"

My husband is a US citizen and so is my daughter (dual citizenship). I am just glad that my daughter is still 2 years old and she cannot leave me hahahahah.

My hubby is actually bugging NVC but seems like NVC and US Embassy in UAE is pointing fingers at each other :)

Embassy always schedule the interview date around one and half even 2years after the pd date. I couldn't see your timeline.  It takes more for you?

i'm born, brought up and living in abu dhabi for 30 years and didn't get my interview date any quicker :D if you're still at NVC stage, i would recommend moving it to india, but also look into their document requirements and see if he'll be able to get those documents as someone not currently residing in india.

excited about approaching the end of the month, but also bracing myself for disappointment. 8 months and counting.

Hello!

Thank you for your reply! Yeah I called and asked them. They did say that the person has to be residing in India..He has to give two months notice for resignation so I am going to call and find out if an intent to move back by the end of March would qualify..if not I will ask for a change in Embassy by the end of march. I spoke to a friend who went through the same process and asked for a change of embassy. He said he requested for the change after his wife moved back to India. He scanned all the documents and the change was processed within two days and he got a new case number! I can give them a week or two! It is better than waiting for an interview for eight months I guess. My husband is thinking about leaving Dubai in the next two months I guess.

Hey! My husbands situation is similar to yours and we are also still waiting. I had initially picked Bombay  but the agent who helped us file the i130 insisted that Abu Dhabi was faster but that’s anything but the true in all of our cases 🙄 since you are so early on in the process, I believe you will benefit from changing embassy’s. There weren’t many candidates on VJ talking about Abu Dhabi while I was still in the beginning stages of NVC process, or I would’ve definitely changed it. It seems like the wait time for interview in India is about 2-3 months after your case is complete.  You at least get interview notification within the first 2 months. Also

you will notice on the travel.state website that Bombay process a LOT more cr1 cases than Abu Dhabi does every month. But you will probably experience a delay of one month just to change embassy’s, so it’s your call :)

Hi sthomas! I did look into it. Bombay processes like 90-135 Cr1 visas whereas the most I saw Abu Dhabi process was 9-15. I am wondering if they put a limit on the numbers from certain embassies because when I initially applied I saw that Abu Dhabi was like 1-2 months to get an interview. I did not foresee this but I am glad I looked into changing embassies because NVC hasn't even received my approved 130 yet so I still have time to ask for a change in embassy once I get my case number. The only problem is that my husband has to give two months notice before he can move back to India so I might have to ask that once he is permanently back in india unless they accept an intent to move back. Thank GOD for visajourney!!

I might be wrong, but I don’t think he has to move to India to go attend an interview there.  So he can still work in abu Dhabi and go attend the interview when it’s time..  i’m just not sure if he has to do his medical in UAE or India tho. But, best of luck!  I hope everything gets sorted out soon!

Thank you! Yes, I am calling NVC to find out if that is true! That means he wouldn't have to quit right away! The NVC agent had told me he needs to reside in the country but I can ask them again

The person who I spoke to said they just have to be eligible to interview at the location we are requesting for. The criteria’s are 1) the country you were born in  2) the country of citizenship 3) the country your residing in.

So in your case, #2 is applicable. So just ask and see. Lol I feel like different people say different things at NVC 🙄

So true! Just got off the phone with nvc.. They said the same thing you said just now! So he doesn't have to resign till everything is done n closer to the interview date! Yay!

I will probably start a thread about changing embassies as I didn't find that a lot of ppl did it n update it with how much longer it will take and if it's worth it etc

Don't forget that if you change embassies you will need to get a Police Certificate from both UAE and wherever you go for your interview. The certificate has only a 6 month validity I think. So that is also something to consider.

good point. the police certificate issued in abu dhabi is valid for 3 months.

instead of resigning, why doesn't he go on a holiday to india around the time of his interview? there could be different scenarios like administrative processing god forbid if they find something in his application or interview answers that they want to investigate and this can take several more months.
