is it possible to change embassy's? Have you looked into it?

I did speak with NVC and they said it was possible since my case is with them and they didn’t make it seem like it was too

complicated to get it done as long as the candidate is eligible to interview at the embassy we are requesting to change to. In my case the eligibility would be that my husband is an Indian citizen. I did ask her if she can provide me a timeline of how long this changing process would take an she wasn’t able to give me one. But she did tell me our CC will remain the same. I told her I’ve read horror stories that changing embassies could take up to 8 months and she laughed and said that’s for sure not true.   So I don’t know.... looking at th travelstate.gov link that another member posted, it seems like Bombay is callin CR1 3-4X more than

Abu Dhabi ... but since I already waited 7 months, i’m trying to outweight the benefits. My cc is June 30th. If by end of this month May cc does not get called, i’m really considering to change it.

Guys I think that we have waited so long for us nt to wait another month or two. A lot has passed nd little has left.. I recommend to wait because it may take you even longer the process of changing embassies.  Anyway if you do GL and we’re all here waiting for a miracle in any way possible! 🙏🏼

I truly feel so bad for you that you have had to wait this long. It must be so frustrating and draining to be hopeful every month and then have to face let down. Keep your hopes up, and we pray your time and everyone else who has been waiting that long to get their interview date soon.

As for the rest of us who have just received CC and have only just begun this long wait, at least we have a heads up that it will take no less than 8 months :(

stay strong!!

Thank you dear! I truly hope so!  You never know you may get that magical email for an interview before us! Lol just stay positive.. their time wait is full of surprises 😄

Hi all,

I just saw this topic. My case is still being transferred to NVC. My husband is an Indian citizen but he was born in Al Ain and works in Dubai on a job visa. Do you think we should just request for a change in embassy once it gets to NVC? Do you think the fact that he was born in UAE would help him get an interview date quicker? He has an emirates ID and has been living in UAE for the past 4 years

Are you citizen or you have a green card?

I am a Filipina and my husband applied for a green card for me which I am still waiting for the visa appointment. It's been 9 months now since NVC sent us the letter that we are on que :) And to think we hired an immigration lawyer to process this... hahahahah... Hiring an immigration lawyer is not a guarantee that your case will be expedited. They will just help you to process the papers but not really following up on your case.

Oh I mean your husband is us citizen or he has green card?  If he had green card you would check bulletin.  I agree with you,  l don't think so lawyer helps you in this step.  You should email and call nvc even twice a week or more.

i'm born, brought up and living in abu dhabi for 30 years and didn't get my interview date any quicker :D if you're still at NVC stage, i would recommend moving it to india, but also look into their document requirements and see if he'll be able to get those documents as someone not currently residing in india.

excited about approaching the end of the month, but also bracing myself for disappointment. 8 months and counting.

My husband is a US citizen and so is my daughter (dual citizenship). I am just glad that my daughter is still 2 years old and she cannot leave me hahahahah.

My hubby is actually bugging NVC but seems like NVC and US Embassy in UAE is pointing fingers at each other :)

Yep thats what’s happening unfortunately!! Pointing fingers at each other and we are stuck here not knowing where at least our case is!

I wish they could just tell us where we at @ this point.  I mean to wait for 2 months or 3 is barely okay but to wait for 8-9 whole months not knowing anything is absolutely absurd.  Just staying hopeful nd optimistic  till this whole thing ends 😑

Hey! My husbands situation is similar to yours and we are also still waiting. I had initially picked Bombay  but the agent who helped us file the i130 insisted that Abu Dhabi was faster but that’s anything but the true in all of our cases 🙄 since you are so early on in the process, I believe you will benefit from changing embassy’s. There weren’t many candidates on VJ talking about Abu Dhabi while I was still in the beginning stages of NVC process, or I would’ve definitely changed it. It seems like the wait time for interview in India is about 2-3 months after your case is complete.  You at least get interview notification within the first 2 months. Also

you will notice on the travel.state website that Bombay process a LOT more cr1 cases than Abu Dhabi does every month. But you will probably experience a delay of one month just to change embassy’s, so it’s your call :)
