I-797C, Code 5

Hi Visa Journey Family, 

 

I received my Biometrics Notification yesterday. What is CODE 5? I tried searching but its only giving me Code 1, 2 and 3?

When I did my biometrics earlier this month, I looked over her shoulder at the computer---Code 5 is just to signify to the agent that they need to do the photo, full set of fingerprints from one hand excluding the thumb (as opposed to just one finger, or just the tips of your fingers), and electronic signature of the applicant.

Thank you for your response.  What is the difference of Code 3 and 5?

 

Code 1: Fingerprints only (10 prints)

Code 2: Biometrics (photo, index fingerprint, and signature)

Code 3: Fingerprints (10 prints) and biometrics (photo, index fingerprint, and signature)

Code 3 does both hands.  Code 5 does only one hand as I mentioned above

Code 5 means 4 fingers and thumb right hand only got mine done today..

The reason for only doing one hand is that with four prints, they can find a match in the system. It saves them a lot of time so that they don't have to collect both sets.
