Hey everyone,

 

My I-485 still in procces and in January 2018 my wife is going to Africa to work as a doctor to help people for a year, I don't want to let her go alone. How can I accelerated the process so I can get my Green Card, go with her and apply for reentry permit so I can come back to the US after spending a year outside.

 

Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated,

What is your timeline? When do you expect the green card?

 

You could go for a few months, go back to the US, then go back there. Maybe going on a temporary basis would work better? What would you do there 24/7 anyway?

January 3 2017: Filed application

Last updated was in April 20: Response of request of evidence was received.

 

Right now I'm doing a Masters Online and will continue to do that there

There's no way to speed it up except an expedite, and there's no basis for an expedite here. You really just have to wait it out.

You can't really do anything but wait.

 

Also, even if you have the greencard, you are not allowed to be out of the country for more than 6months. 

 

In this case, what you want (not to let her go alone) is not really a reason or a valid excuse to have the case expedited. And as far as I know, requests for expediting the case only applies to EAD/AP application but not on I-485.

Perhaps your wife can wait until you have your GC.
