Interview 4/16/07 - Approved Pending I-693A

We had our interview Monday. It only took 33 minutes. He said all we needed for approval was the I-693A. I know, you told me. We decided to wait and see the outcome of the interview. Some have had their AOS approved without the supplemental form. The Adjudicator was nice enough to print out the Civil Surgeons in the area. After we left his office, we called around and found one that would see us then. We left the USCIS office around noon and we got the I-693A forms for my wife and step-daughter after my wife had a shot. OUCH!! We took the sealed envelopes back to the USCIS office and dropped them through the slot in the door and then went to eat.

Today, our status was updated online with the following:

Receipt Number: MSC07********

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On April 17, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I can read, but I am having a problem understanding what this notice says. (The Adjudicator did not ask for the passport photos and I forgot to give them to him. There should have been 6 photos of my wife and 6 of my step-daughter in my file.)

This should be the two year Conditional Permanent Resident card and not the Permanent 10 year Resident Card.

I know I will have to wait for the letter, but we are leaving on a two week vacation and if it doesn't come in the next two days, I hope I am not going to be late for any further requirements.

This whole process has been very nerve wrecking for me. Too much to do and never enough time. I managed to leave some original documents rather than a copy. They all can be replaced, thank goodness. He did ask to see a copy of our marriage license and he took those. I asked if he wanted to see the originals and he said "No".

I want to thank everyone who helped us with this process. VJ is really a great site with lots of great people. I have always gotten good information except for one time, but that is another subject. :-)

Maybe someone can explain the above letter from USCIS.

From what I understand they use the Biometrics photo for your GC so really the passport photos are just for people to verify with previous photos submitted is my guess.

I would venture to guess that the GC would only be valid for 2 years as you've been married for less than that.

USPS often doesn't take too long to mail out things so my guess would be that you get the welcoming letter the day you leave at the latest and that might give you a little further information. Seems like you're all done, Congrats!!

Thanks. I hope we are all finished for now. I wish I could jump for joy, but I will worry a little more until we get the letter. I wish they could write simple letters so I could understand exactly what they are talking about. We appreciate the congrats. Have a great evening.

Thanks everyone. I checked a few minutes ago online at the USCIS website and then got e-mails from USCIS stating that the Card Production was ordered for my wife and step-daughter. I guess I was just worried over the wording of the first online communication from USCIS.

As my wife said, she will not believe until she has it in her hand. Me too!!!
