New Charlottesville Video Shows White Nationalist Firing at People While Police Stand By

Reigniting criticism of the police role at the protests.

The ACLU of Virginia released a chilling video this weekend that shows a man shooting into a crowd at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville earlier this month. In the background you can see a man improvising a small flamethrower with an aerosol can (which has become an iconic photo), when a man in the foreground wearing a bulletproof vest turns toward the commotion, draws a pistol and fires. After a single shot, the man leaves the scene, passing a line of officers standing still.

As of Saturday, the man is in custody. But in the aftermath of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, police on the scene have faced widespread criticism for how they handled the events leading up to the deadly attack. Earlier this week, the Charlottesville mayor announced the formation of an independent review board to investigate preparation and response by the city and police. But the ACLU video shows more than a lack of preparedness, according to counter-protesters at the event. According to them, it backs up claims that the police were deliberately permitting violence from the white supremacists. And the white supremacists believe both the police and the president endorse them.

Crazy firing a gun in to a crowd like that, was it a live round or blanks?

 

Just curious if you attended a march like this with a concealed carry permit, felt threatened and killed someone would it be justified self defense?

Won't be too long then until both sides start turning up with guns, not that knives hatchets and rocks are not dangerous enough.
