All varies!! Took nearly 2 months to get NOA1 ( I went through Vermont) Some get that faster of course, some do not, lol. I had about 2.5 weeks notice for my Biometrics appt (they take ur fingerprints and pic there) But I had to reschedule, which was easy to do, which pushed it back another 2 weeks!! Took about 6 months from first mailing in the 751 to recieving my 10 yr greencard

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

How did you reschedule? I understand there is a formal way of doing so by checking a box, but I read on another forum yesterday that one could actually just show up a week or so before to inquire about rescheduling and they'll often just take you right then without going through any formal re-scheduling.

Anybody have any experience with that? We're going to be out of town for almost a week toward the end of May, and I have that lucky feeling that our biometrics will be scheduled for one of those days.

Meh

It staes right on the biometrics appt letter how to reschedule. For alexandria VA, it was just mailing tha appt letter back to the address indicated, and checking off the box!! I wrote on the letter that i was availabale anytiem after so and so a date, was that simple. Others have stated it stated on that letter, they could just go on whatever time. Did not state that on my letter. just follow the very easy instructions, and you will be fine.

Andre got a letter telling him the time and date to be there for biometrics. The very next sentence said if he couldn't make it at that time, he could go any Wednesday after that date, during certain hours, up until something like 4 months after the appointed date.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
