Hello Everyone.

I have been accepted as a postdoctoral fellow and hence applied for J1 visa. I had my visa interview on 24th July 2017 at Hyderabad, India. The visa officer asked me about my educational background, previous project and asked for my DS-2019 and passport. At the end of the interview she signed my DS-2019 and told me to show it at the immigration and returned my passport with 221g white slip along with it. She told me that my case needs further administrative processing for which I need to fill up a questionnaire. I filled up the questionnaire and attached all the required documents and submitted it the very next day (25th July 2017). It has been almost 5 weeks now and there are no updates yet. On the CEAC website my case created date and case updated date is being shown as 24th July 2017.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Do you have a question?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

No set time for AP, background checks essentially, some are quick some are not. Basically you wait.

Any news mitalig ? My visa application has been in administrative processing since my embassy appointment July 11th (almost 2 months) and my case has not been updated since July 13th... I am starting to get very worried I won't get my visa for months.

Hi Marguerite. I got an email from the consulate to submit my passport at the nearest VAC office. I got this mail at the end of 6th week (5th September).

I can understand your situation. You can email the embassy and ask about the visa status. But most of the cases get resolved within 60 days.
