Oh lol thats way too funny but i feel you. honestly your husband is doing the right thing. Focus on things you like and not let uscis steal time that you could both be spending and enjoying.
That said do regularly check with the office or what not steps you need to take.

It is tough but nothing you guys cant overcome :) best of luck

Hi all, the great news is that my wife has her interview scheduled for Sept. 9th. Assuming she passes, it appears like the oath ceremony would be scheduled in Oct? 5 - 8 weeks out from the interview? (Based on the google spreadsheet people have been filling out)

We have a trip planned for outside the US at the end of Oct. If the oath ceremony is scheduled for mid to late Oct her old passport would become void, and we don't think there would be enough time to get a US passport before we leave. I know it could be expedited but we'd hate to rely on that and then have it get lost in the mail or something.

Can we just tell them at the interview we either need to do the oath immediately or wait until after we return from our trip? How would we get the date changed if they scheduled her oath ceremony for a day when we're out of the country? Appreciate the help. Thanks

What do you mean you  hate expedited processing  because your mail could get lost in the mail? So if you do normal processing, it wouldn’t get lost in the mail? The chance of your mail getting lost  is very slim.  I applied for my passport and requested expedited processing and I got it within  less than two weeks.

It doesn't say I hate expedited processing. It says if the oath ceremony is scheduled towards the end of Oct close to when we have our trip planned I'd hate to have to rely on expedited processing. It could get lost in the mail or something.  Something could mean a number of different things.

The point of my question was to find out if there's a way to avoid getting into that situation beforehand?

To all the ones who had oath ceremony in the St Paul River Centre. Can you help answer my questions:

1) How many people did you bring for the ceremony besides yourself

2) Were everyone of your guests allowed to go inside and watch the ceremony?

OR

3) The venue can only hold the ones taking oath ceremony so the guests had to wait outside?

4) Was there places for people to sit (the guests)?

5) Anything else we should know?

Story of my life. He basically doesn't care now that he's a citizen either. It is just a giant "meh".

You can bring whoever you want with you. The ballroom is so big. It can fit up to 1000 people. The family sit in the back rows and you will be seated by them. You will start by standing in ling line with your paper and your green card. Tell your family to go in and take their seats in the back seats. Continue to the end of the line. Then they will take your green card and stamp your paper. Then you will be seated by them. You will remain in the same place until they distribute the certificate to you. The are fast and they know where you are seated and they will bring it and handed it to you. Once you take your certificate you are can leave. Take a pen with you as you may want to fill your election paper.

  • 2 weeks later...

My N400 application was received 06/17 this year and had my biometrics a month later.  I see that my online case status is showing that my estimated completion date is June 2020 which  is basically a year after my filing date. I initially submitted my N400 to speed things up a bit since my 1751 application was pending for over a year and a half and surprisingly enough, my ROC got approved a week after my biometrics. I was gearing up for a combo interview but the ROC approval took me by surprise. Now I'm wondering, how accurate are these case estimates on the status site? When can I reasonably expect to get an interview scheduled?

One year out is roughly what it seems to be taking. It has been getting slightly better, but you can see from this spreadsheet the approximate times...

PS if other people on this feed would like to keep it updated, that would be appreciated by people waiting for their N400 to complete.

South Dakotans seem to be left out there a bit too, a bit like our northern neighbors.

Has as anyone else been transferred to another field office after 290 days?

I just wonder if I’m going to be on the top or bottom of their pile. Hoping for the best!

Our 10 year Green Card renewal (I-751) just got transferred to another office about a week ago. We've been waiting 22 months for that one so far.

A friend of mine had his wife's I-751 case similarly transferred about 6 months ago and they received the 10 year green card in the mail about a month after that. I think that means they went to the top of the pile.

Hopefully this is a good thing for you. Best of luck!

I'm your northern neighbor. I applied on August 10 2018,  yet to get an interview date.

Hey I live in SD and same thing happened to me yesterday 9/1. They said they transferred my application and my estimated time changed to 1 month. I filed N400 in March 10 of this year. Just wondering what it all means.
