Hi all, the great news is that my wife has her interview scheduled for Sept. 9th. Assuming she passes, it appears like the oath ceremony would be scheduled in Oct? 5 - 8 weeks out from the interview? (Based on the google spreadsheet people have been filling out)

We have a trip planned for outside the US at the end of Oct. If the oath ceremony is scheduled for mid to late Oct her old passport would become void, and we don't think there would be enough time to get a US passport before we leave. I know it could be expedited but we'd hate to rely on that and then have it get lost in the mail or something.

Can we just tell them at the interview we either need to do the oath immediately or wait until after we return from our trip? How would we get the date changed if they scheduled her oath ceremony for a day when we're out of the country? Appreciate the help. Thanks

Yeah, mine is at 9:30 AM tomorrow (August 8th) as well - I'm planning to be there parked and everything nothing later than 9 AM, probably earlier. I live in monticello, so it'll be a hike,.. my whole family is coming with.

So after the certificate I'm planning on updating social security and apply for passport? anything else I'm missing?

What time was ceremony/ where? how many people and when did it end? :)

I didn't go, but I think it ended before noon and was scheduled for people to show up at 9:30 and start at 10:30. He showed up at around 9 and there was already "a few hundred in line". Maybe someone else can answer better. We live up by Canada, so, our family didn't join him.  That would be a true hike.

He said there was just over a thousand, maybe 1002?

Today we did the oath ceremony at the River Center in Saint Paul. The Scheduled time for the ceremony was at 1:00PM but it did not start till 1:45 AM. Arrive early as there will be a lot of people. there was 651 new citizen on this ceremony. There were oath ceremonies before and after us. The line was super long to hand in the ceremony notification and the green card, but it was moving fast. The ceremony took about one hour.

Good luck everyone with your journey. It was indeed a very long one but it will come to an end eventually and it just need lots of patience.

Thanks again for all the advice and tips. Wish you all the best

Peace.
