Oath ceremony done! Our journey is finally over!

Here's how it went for us:

• Parked in the RiverCentre ramp which is skyway connected. $10 flat rate, paid when entering

• Arrived in RiverCentre at 7:30 (way too early but just to be safe)

• Proceeded to ground floor cafe for breakfast

• Went back upstairs at around 8:00--massive crowd lining up in a very disorganized fashion

• A lack of signage and direction from USCIS was very apparent

• Was eventually told that applicants should line up down main corridor and family could be seated in the ballroom.  (family and friend seating was eventually full, with many people standing)

• Applicants are then lead to their seats which are numbered for documentation purposes

• First wave of applicants were seated then documents were checked. If you have an I-551 stamp in your passport they'll invalidate it here.

• By 9:45 there was still a long line of applicants waiting to be seated. At 10:15 they were mostly all seated

• League of Women Voters addressed the crowd to assist people getting registered to vote

• Program started at about 10:20

• Following pledge of allegiance, applicants instructed to stay seated to receive their certificates of naturalization

• There were 1,002 applicants present from 88 different countries (top 3 being Somalia, China, and India)

• Left the RiverCentre ramp at around 11:20

It was a very powerful and emotional experience.

Filled n400 ( 3 year marriage based to a US Citizen)- March 28 2018

Cashed March 29 2018

NOA March 30 2018

fingerprint APR 17 2018

interview letter - Feb 20 2019

Interview Date - Apt 1 2019

Oath date - waiting

Went to the interview yesterday had it at 9.00 in the morning. I went there little early around 8.15 and checked in and got a number. Called in around 9.15 for the interview and verified all the details i already included on the application. Asked me am i changing my name and the signature. I said yes to change my name but not the signature. Asked me if i owe any taxes and i said no and asked me if i filled for 2018 taxes. I had the tax transcript for 2018 and gave to her. Asked me 6  random civic questions.  Easy ones.  All together I had the interview is for 15 to 20 min.  Interviewer gave me a letter stating she recommended me for the approval and i should hear back for the final approval. When i checked the case update i saw the case was approved and the ceremony estimated for 5 months which i doubt is going to be that long.

Good luck plp.

Congratulations! May I asked when did you file 2018 tax? I filed march 18 and now when I logged onto my IRS account it’s yet to be up there, still no information received. The account transcript (the payment we made) showed up there though. Thank you!

Hey Thanks,

I filled my Taxes on March 13 (turbo tax) . I would take any information you have to prove you filled and you dont owe any tax. Thats what they looking for. Also if you have the interview date before April 15 you should be fine but if you have it after you definitely make sure to have that information with you for the interview.

thnks

How long did it took to get your oath letter after your n400 interview? I did my interview since March 11th and no oath letter yet. My online status still says in line for oath scheduled. I am running out of patience :(

Hey there. I m not sure if they accept turbo tax. ( they should) I have a kid and they asked me her original birth certificate ( i already submitted a copy of the birth certificate when i filled) . I took all the original documents i attached when i apply n400 except the 2018 TAX since it was new. Asked me if i have the selective service letter but they didn't take it.  Other than that it was pretty straight forward.

I have a friend who lives in Oregon and he had the interview and the ceremony same day last week. Why Minnesota specifically takes this long to have the ceremony? Too many applicants?

As I understand it, same day interviews are only for those that live outside a certain distance from the Field Office.

Oath ceremony was done today, thanks to everyone. We was 1002 new us citizens today from 88th country. Governor Tim Walz was at the ceremony and the oath of Allegiance was done by Judge Kate M. Menendez from the United States District court. My favorite part was when the Judge call all the kids on stage to say the pledge of Allegiance. My 5 year old daughter was one of those kids on stage. Good  luck to everyone who still on this journey.
