Filing N400 during i751 slows down the process, most peoples first thoughts are that it will speed it up somehow but this is absolutely not true. I would have gotten my i751 last year if it wasn’t for filing n400 in Sept 2020, after filing my i751 in Sept 2019.

Both cases where approved during the end of May and Oath was end of June 2021.

If you want to speed up your case and it’s been a year since you filed, seek immigration assistance from your local Senators office (federal), usually within 3-6 months sometimes it may help.

This is what I read on this forum too and some people swear by it. I guess it's highly varies on case by case basis then. Looks like you got yours ~ 8 months after applying, which is still better than a year plus estimate they have on the site. Again, probably varies a lot by case so not everyone might get it this fast?

I'll be eligible for N400 in early 2022 and was planning on filing it right away. Your comment has made me rethink my plan. Thank you for the response!

Usually the N400 is within a year or less, they have gotten better at these times but COVID hasn’t helped at all. There have been folks still waiting after a year or more…

It can depend on case by case, problem isn’t the N400 but more so the added processing time onto the I751.

If a person waited to allow the i751 to be approved as a stand-alone it would make it easier for everyone to not have the n400 at the same time. By combining both i751 and n400, it basically resets the clock and causes the adjudication to take longer, because there are more agents that do i751 than n400 and the combined task takes more time, believe it or not if you send them a million photos or even standard evidence a mere 100 to 1000 pages long for each petition they have to read everything before they do the interview.

When I applied for n400, my i751 was just being transferred and because I did n400 online (fastest way) it ended up snatching the i751 and putting both cases in line for Adjudication by a agent/officer that does combo/n400 interviews.

I think it depends on the case.

My timeline for I-751:

01/20/2021 filed form I-751

02/20/2021 re-used fingerprint

then I filled my N400 on 11/03/2021 online.

on the same day I received the approval for I-751, a week later I received my 10 years green card. Now, I just wait for my interview

Happy birthday to my N-400 submission! May 2022 be fruitful and bountiful such that the Twin Cities office clears its backlog and starts working on the *checks numbers* 2018 cases…

Jeez. Their pace is so pathetic it's almost funny

Phuck, that sucks. I'm in Portland and hope that doesn't happen to me.

I'm still 3 months out according to USCIS website.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a new mission statement on Wednesday, replacing a Trump-era statement that removed the phrase “nation of immigrants.”

The new statement is shorter and includes terms such as “respect for all we serve” and a “nation of welcome and possibility.”

The move is part of a larger effort by the federal agency to build a more “accessible and humane” immigration system, said USCIS Director Ur Jaddou.

“The United States is and will remain a welcoming nation that embraces people from across the world who seek family reunification, employment or professional opportunities, and humanitarian protection.”

My N-400 will celebrate 2 years in May and it's "Estimated time* until case decision: approx. 8 months". Very promising especially given the fact it took them more than a year to get my fingerprints. ☹️

USCIS tracker is a total BS. Don't rely on it. Especially if you are a May or April 2020 filer. BTW, there is a thread where people share their stories.

What helped many of us (i am May 2020 filer myself), was requesting our respective A-files using FOIA. There is a whole discussion about this on those 2 threads.

Apr 2022 will be 2 years after they received my N400 case .

I had my finger print in January 2021.

Now estimated time in the website says 2 months.

Please let me know if you have any updates.

Read April and May 2020 discussions (last 10-15 pages), file FOIA.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free... and who will not become a public charge!
