My Field office is Minneapolis but I was interviewed in Fargo, ND

Interesting. We live 2 hours from Fargo and more than 5 from Minneapolis. I guess we’ll see what happens in a year or so.

Had my biometrics done today @ St Paul.  They were very nice and super speedy, though the office was BUSY!  They were handing out booklets with the civics information we'll need to pass the test, which was useful.

HI Guys

 

I applied for N400 on April 30th 2017 and I got the interview done on March 13th 2018. The officer said that they cannot approve me right now and I am waiting to hear back. They also mentioned that there is a backlog for FBI background check. Do you guys have any way to check the status on it? or have an idea of how long it takes to hear back from USCIS?

Thank you!  I'm regretting not applying at the 3 year mark, instead of waiting for 5 years like I did. I could perhaps just be getting citizenship now if I applied 2 years ago!  Thank goodness this is the last of it.

yes, back to 2 years ago, the Obama administration was the golden age for immigration, things were friendly and efficient than right now.  

 H1b ---> EB-1A (I-140) ---> I-485 AOS(Green Card) ---> 5 years --->  US Citizenship N400 application

your case is typically a "1-year-rule" for majority N400 application in Mpls office. 

 

the majority of complaints say the delay is from the FBI check. this may not be completely true as we applicants can 't prove it and the inside process is not transparent to us.  we never get to communicate with FBI (either officer or customer service).

Neither Senator or First lady would not be able to find out the truth.  USCIS Feild officers may say it's FBI causing the backlog. we can't move things forward until FBI clears the check.

There are still some possibilities that our background check has been cleared already but individual field office has their specific "internal "rule" to decide and control the speed for case approval., due to the downstream step of oath availability or upstream administrative processing. Any excuse can make you wait for a year long ! you can't file the lawsuit until you are out of reasonable processing time window.
