Interview experience..

I applied together with my wife afer 5yrs and 3months as green card holders and we both got same date and time of interview.we arrived around 8.45am for a 9am interview.passed through the security and properly checked in.at exactly 8.55am,my number was called and went with my 3yrs old son to meet with IO.The man was not friendly, very strict and professional.after confirming my name, date of birth and address, the first question was why are you here and why do you want to be a citizen?.I was somehow surprised but answered.he then asked who was Abraham Lincoln and later asked me to write my answer on the pad in from of me.

He later rushed through the other five questions and the yes and no part of the application.

Apart from my green card he asked,he didn't ask of any other documents or asked any strange questions.

He later handled a paper to me without making any comment and had to quickly read where it was marked to be sure what was marked.

I asked him when the oath was likely to take place and he asked me if I have an impending trip which I answered yes.he said I should not worry that it's going to be soon.

The whole interview took 7mins and my spouse own took 10mins.

We left the building few minutes thereafter and before we got home, status already changed to you attended your interview and after an hour later, status changed to we approved your application.

The following morning, status changed to we scheduled your oath ceremony.

Naturalization ceremony day...

The ceremony was scheduled for 10.30am at st Paul river center and parking was very easy.

The presiding judge announced that we were 830 new citizens from 91 countries appearing for the oath and at around 11am,we formally became an America citizen.

The whole ceremony lasted around 45mins.

Total completion time was 6months,17days.

Hello all,

I was K1 but got divorced. I have a GC now. I am from the Middle East.
It is about time to apply for N400.
I am not sure how easy or hard the interview and the officer questions about why did you get divorce in less than a year.

My question, do I have to hire a lawyer. Or it is ok/easy to do it by myself?
I am just worried about the interview since I was married and divorced through K1 waiver

Thanks.

Hello N400 applicants,

I am working on my documents to submit my N400 online, yet I have two questions:

1- is it wise to submit while my ROC is still pending?

2- I will be applying under the 3 years rule, the instructions say to bring proof to the interview (Marriage certificate, bank statements, mortgage ect...)  in other pages I read that these should be submitted online with the N400, so which should I follow? I do think it is a lot of documents to upload with the application. What did you guys submit with your application online?

I appreciate all your inputs!!

1. I did but my timeline is messed up because I applied for ROC late. It has helped speed it up by the looks of things

2. I attached all of them to the application. Basically everything I sent with my ROC.

Officer asked me about:

Taxes for last 3 years

Health ins, any ins for both names

Plus, we have 2 houses on both names

Birth certificate of my husband and my stepson

Marriage certificate

Questions about application was easy. Something like: what is your spouse name? Is your husband Napoleon?

Interview was maximum 10 min. Other time, he was just preparing to the next applicant and we just talked about random things.

@Citizendan How did your interview go?

It was cool and easy. I over-prepared. The IO was nice. He said the ceremony in March is full so mine will be in June
