Hi everyone, I had my interview this morning in Minneapolis. Not a combo interview as my RoC was resolved in 2022 but brought my wife anyway. Arrived there about 30 min before the scheduled time. Took just a couple of min to get through the security, few more min to check in at the front desk and waited in the lobby for maybe 15 min. My ticket number was called exactly on my scheduled time. The officer was serious but friendly, I guess, as I found out after the interview he loves my home country for its beautiful landscape, etc. Anyway, he swore me in and asked 6 questions:

- One of 4 amendments on voting (18 or older, no $ to vote, women can vote, all race can vote)

- President during WW2

- No. of supreme court justices

- No. of senators

- How many years we elect president for

- One of the 2 longest rivers

He asked me to say out loud 'Who can vote?' and write 'Citizens can vote.' on the tablet.

Then some yes/no questions from the application followed by where do I live, with whom, where I got married, where I work. Then one final round of yes/no questions from the application. That was it!

I asked him if I passed and he said the software will tell us after confirming some personal information (address, name change, etc). The paper printed saying I passed and have been recommended for citizenship. I then asked about oath ceremonies and he said to wait for a letter in the mail and not to have travel plans for the next couple of weeks.

I came home to check the status update and found two updates:

Status Date
Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled January 20, 2023
We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review. January 20, 2023

I guess barring something crazy, I will take my oath soon and this long journey will be over.

Those who are still waiting, good luck!! Shouldn't be too long for you.

congratulation for the approval , i just have question for the writing test on the tablet do to you type the answer on the iPad screen or using the iPad keyboard to write the answer

Had interview around 9:45pm.

I studied 2020 civics and my first question was “name one US territory “

i had to stop and ask her what set of questions are we doing. ( i knew the answer but it wasnt 2020 civics as i know all by heart)

She did some research and told me 2008.

However u showed her the Noa where it says “applications after dec 1 and are required to take 2020 version may now have the option of 2008”

The catch is “are required”.. the lady told me that its confusing indeed but i wasn’t required so it will be 2008.

i told her its not my fault as i have not been notified properly as it doesn’t states clearly.

so the explanation is if you werent notified or required to take 2020 then its 2008…

Either way, i was able to answer the questions except i didn’t prepare for those.

Questions were

One US territories

how many senators in states

Where is the statue of liberty

Name one states that borders canada

Name one state that borders Mexico

What stops the government from becoming too powerful.

The lady was very nice and helpful.

Shes great at her job.

she recommended the approval.

i hope this helps.

I must have missed the part about bringing a pen. But yeah, it was all electronic for me.

Hello MN people. I have an update on the oath ceremony.

There were 1000 plus people being naturalized today in St Paul. They made us wait almost 1.5 hours before the actual ceremony took place but no complaints really, just glad to be done.

Parking is usually $10 in the Kellog ramp but today was $15 because of course it was.

Also an interesting story. They had us sit in random aisles and rows, in other words in random spots. Though at the end, distributed our certificates without any issues so I am pretty certain they used facial recognition to figure out who was sitting where. I had a mask on the whole time yet they still figured out where I was. Black magic! Gotta be facial recognition, right? The invitation letter indicated no aisle, row information. Wild.

Anyway, glad that this journey is over. I am applying for passport tomorrow and updating SSN card maybe in the next few weeks.

Good luck to you if you're waiting. Your turn will come soon!

Thanks for posting your experience. I'm with you... facial recognition it is! If I'm able to board Delta international flights with just my face, I'm pretty sure USCIS's facial recognition capabilities are far more advanced.

Were you able to take guests?

And a short update on my end... last night I got the "Card being Produced" email for my I-751. So I guess no combo interview next Friday.

Make sure your spouse is with you regardless. Sometimes just US spouse's presence helps IO to approve your N-400 on the spot.

Congrats! End is near.

Yes, multiple family members are allowed. Some people brought their little babies and they were napping at the back of the room. Pics, videos, all allowed. Make sure you take books, games, etc to keep you busy because my appointment was before 1 pm but the ceremony didn't start until about 2 pm.

Interesting, OK. I was under the impression that they won't let your spouse in for the interview unless you have a pending I-751 as well.

The MSP office allows spouses but not in the interview room if it is not a combo interview. Mine was just for N400 so my spouse waited in the lobby area. MSP office is really chill.
