Thought I'd do a little digging about how many people actually get refused at the POE.

According to the official government statistics, in 2015 about 49,000 people were not admitted to the USA at airports, or about 134 people per day. Most of the major airports (JFK, O'Hare, LAX, SFO, ATL etc.) take in between 10,000-20,000 international visitors a day, plus the dozens of mid size and smaller airports.

I've found several sources which claim around 99.95% of foreign visitors are admitted.

Someone here did the math on ESTA POE refusals in 2010, and found it to be around 0.035%, in other words, 99.97% admitted:

So for every rejection story you hear, several thousand people are admitted. And keep in mind, many refusals are due to things completely in the traveler's control: prior visa overstays, obvious visa fraud, criminal history, smuggling contraband etc.

And don't act flippant. I can never fathom those who did and got denied, causing their USC petitioners heartache (not to mention effort and money spent) with them crying here.

ETA: Sorry, my comment was more for immigration based visa ;)

Yeah, I figured I'd post this here due to the constant "OMG will I be denied" posts that crop up daily.

The reality is, very very few international visitors are denied entry, and a I'd bet good portion of those refusals were 100% preventable.

Every one I have seen was reasonable, often it takes time to drag out the full story.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
