Don't see the issue with this rule.  The majority of us here had to do the same thing, right?

Exactly. My wife had to do an interview like many others here. All this new rule does is fills the gaps so everyone has an interview before getting a green card. A lot of outrage over nothing.

Not "only".  It means that those classes now have to go thru what the rest of us had to go thru.  As in an additional step that was previously overlooked.  Now it's being turned into a requirement.

And actually, some who do the spouse or fiancé visas got to skip this step, IIRC.  Luck of the draw, I guess.

Agreed. Why should there be a problem with an interview?

We had an interview.  At the time, those that had received waiver letters were waiting up to a year or more to get a GC.  Katya got hers in a little over five months.  Which way is more efficient?  Many couples on the waiver list were openly asking how they could get USCIS to move them to the interview list.

You'd think that the interviews would slow things down vs those who had it waived. But then again, so much of the immigration process leaves one wondering what is going on.

I see, now it's making more sense. I do know some spouses (couples) have to do interview if less evidence is presented but mostly given a pass, so nothing changes from our aspect as I sponsored my wife and were doing removal of condition.  I didn't know Work Visa were waived.

It has nothing to do with the amount of evidence presented.  I know, because I wanted to send the minimum, but my spouse took much more at every step.  Even to the interview.  She finally believed my telling her it wasn't needed when the officer casually set aside all paperwork she had brought to the interview and asked a few questions.  It was over quickly, took about 7 or 8 minutes, after a 7-hour drive to get there.

It's very random as to who gets waived, from what I have read.

No doubt.  When we filed for Katya's ROC, CSC seemed to be moving much faster than VSC and many were dejected when they had to file at VSC.  Now 8 months later VSC has lunged ahead of CSC for I751s.  I told Katya it is useless to try and figure out the inner workings of USCIS.

Given most employment based visas are software jobs, i wonder what they would ask at the interview. "Could you walk me through heapsort algorithm on the whiteboard please? Take your time, no rush."

They have been known to check at Consulate interviews.

Oh yea block each other is a definite option.  I was just trying to understand where you were coming from. You may valuable information or viewpoints.  I like to listen to everyone's opinions. Unfortunately, I tend not to see them over the insults.

I have given up trying to figure out what certain folks around here are coming from.  Some folks embrace anger, paranoia and darkness as a steady diet. That's not my bag and there is not much to be done for them.
