Urgent work permit for K1

Came to the US on a K1 visa in December 2016 and got married immediately.

January - Submitted 1-485 Application to USCIS

March 02 2017 - Application received by USCIS

March 20 2017 - Went for Biometrics at Baltimore office

July 13 2017 - Online Check changed to "Ready to schedule interview appointment status..."

August 26 2017 (today) - Still waiting for the appointment

I recently applied for a job and I need a work authorization document urgently. I have applied for the EAD which I believe may take months to get. I need advice on what to do. Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, was it possible to get a stamp on the passport to authorize work... Kindly advice.

Search the topics on how to expedite EAD after you have been offered a job and follow the steps they list.

Send in the I-765 form to apply for work permit.  You should also send for the AP I-131 while your at it.  Send a copy of the I-485 and in your cover letter and ask them to join them.

If you research on this forum greencards can frequently take up to one year to receive. The EAD/AP was free so it was no loss but a little time to complete forms.  Sometimes you gotta think ahead.

That's a mistake I completely regret at this moment. I should have done that. I did not know it would take this long to get a Green Card.

IF you are offered the job you can apply for an expedite based on that as mentioned. The green card can still be months away.

You could include the request for expedite in your cover letter.

Also, I believe once you have a receipt number for your EAD you can do an online expedite request.
