Spouse can accompany the benefitiary the day of the interview?

The day of the benefitiary get the interview, the wife/husband can accompany the benefitiary?

Is this would be better if allowed? Or just the benefitiary is able to be in the interview, or depends on the Embassy?

Hi Johnny, it's not a requirement for spouse to be present at the interview. However, many embassies allow the spouse to accompany the beneficiary. Here in Jamaica, it's allowed, but I've read about other countries where the spouse has to wait outside. It's embassy specific, so I suggest that you find out from the embassy before hand if you're allowed inside. 

 

I went to my interview alone, and it was not a problem. I got approved, visa now in hand. 😃😃😃😃 However, I've read that some consulars like seeing the spouse, especially when the relationship has major "red flags". I know of a situation where a couple had a wide age Gap, which was considered a red flag, so the consular asked that the spouse be present at the next interview. 

 

So, if you really want to accompany your spouse/ fiance, just check with the embassy if it's allowed. All the best

Thank you, in my case I'm the beneficiary, my wife and I were talking about that and she would like to be with me at the interview, well at least, she's going to be with me here in Bogotá the day it will be, well, is just a matter of find out the information at the embassy!

If your wife tries to enter the area where the interview will be taking place; the worst that will happen is she will be told she can't come in.  You have nothing to lose by trying, you (or her) will not be in any kind of trouble, and your process will not be adversely affected.

Oh, ok, well we will remember this when that time comes tu us, seriously I want to do everything exactly like they want, correct and we don't want anything goes wrong.

I got conflicting information from the websites and emails about whether I could go as the petitioner (Honduras) .  I went, they seemed to be glad I was there and it actually helped in completing some parts of the paperwork. 

 

Plus no matter what, when the day comes, everyone gets nervous, even if not so much before. 

 

I would say go unless you have difficulties making it there.

I didn't realize towards the end that there is a Consulate review and people talk about their interview experience in a specific embassy.  I found the Honduras one several weeks before going. The official Honduran Embassy website said spouses can NOT go.  But many people said they went and were fine, which was why I went to mine.

 

It helped quite a bit, and it looks like a similar experience.  I scanned the Bogota embassy entries just now, and it looks like the spouse/petitioner is fine to go.

It's funny how the embassies can contradict themselves. The Mexico embassy instructions (https://mx.usembassy.gov/visas/instructions-for-immigrant-visa-applicants/) say "If the petitioner is your spouse, we strongly recommend that he/she accompany you to the interview." but I was turned away at the door on the day of my wife's interview. Sounds like Honduras is the exact opposite in that they state that the petitioner cannot enter but you were able to.
